After a day of paddle boarding on the Intracoastal Waterway in Edgewater, Accent Editor David Wersinger and his wife, Tammie, decided to extend the fun, so they headed a little farther south to view the full moon from the deck at Goodrich's Seafood Restaurant & Oyster House in Oak Hill.

Barbecue for big appetites

Nothing says it's the weekend like barbecue, and after a full day of doing chores and running errands, editorial assistant Kathy Page and her husband, Robert, had worked up an appetite. So in honor of National Barbecue Month (yes, it's true ... May is National Barbecue Month!) they headed to Backyard Boys Bar-B-Que, opened earlier this year at the old Sonny's Bar-B-Q location on South Ridgewood Avenue in South Daytona.

On a recent Saturday night, powers beyond their control drew News-Journal Editor Pat Rice and Beth Coleman to Cassadaga, the spiritual capital of Florida. Pat and Beth found themselves at the L'Aldila Restaurant at the historic Cassadaga Hotel, where the Italian fare proved to be out of this world.

A late afternoon appointment in New Smyrna Beach ended at right about dinner time for Denise O'Toole Kelly and her husband, Joe Kelly. Fortunately for the two seafood lovers, Blackbeards Inn was just ahead on the right as they started their ride home north on U.S. 1.
