What's the title of the Irish Tenors' latest album, released last month? It's -- surprise -- "Ireland."

The trio -- featuring current members, from left, Finbar Wright, Anthony Kearns and Karl Scully -- performs March 12 in Daytona Beach. It's a warm-up gig of sorts before the three lads perform March 17 in New York City's St. Patrick's Day Parade.

The classically trained singers explain this odd album title choice on their Web site (theirishtenors.com): "When searching for a title for our latest album, we decided to just call it simply 'Ireland,' for this nation's musical tradition, like any respectable whiskey, has been maturing gracefully for thousands of years.

"When you settle down to listen to this fine album, hopefully it will pour you a glass of beauty and you will savor every drop and let your mind rest for a while on the island of Ireland. The Muses have been extra kind to the Irish and there is no shortage of songs (or whiskey!) and every album is a chance to bring you a different vintage."

The album includes "The Rocky Road to Dublin," a hit in the Emerald Isle in the 1800s, plus "Galway Bay," "The Irish Rover," "Galway Girl," "Whiskey in the Jar" and -- surprise again -- "Danny Boy."

The Irish Tenors perform at 7:30 p.m. March 12 at Peabody Auditorium, 600 Auditorium Blvd., Daytona Beach. Tickets are 45-$55 plus service fee, and are available at the auditorium box office and Ticketmaster. Information from the venue: 386-671-3462.

In 1994, singer-guitarist Rick Recht was performing such rock songs as the Dave Matthews-ish "Irony" and the punky "Get a Clue."

These days the St. Louis native performs such songs as "Tzadik Katamar," "Y'smechu Hashamayim" and "Oseh Shalom" -- as well as such straight-up rock songs as "Knockin' Holes in the Darkness" and a robust take on Bill Withers' "Lean on Me."

The shift came in 1999 when Recht, after releasing two secular albums, returned to his Jewish roots with his debut "Jewish rock" album, "Tov." That album and subsequent works feature Recht blending melodic pop and rock textures with vocals in both English and Hebrew, and lyrics that draw from Jewish texts and reflect issues of social responsibility.

Recht will perform this weekend as part of the Jewish Heritage Festival. The festival will be 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 14 at News-Journal Center, 221 N. Beach St., Daytona Beach. The festival is free and open to the public. Recht also will perform a pre-festival concert at 7:45 p.m. March 13 at News-Journal Center. Opening will be singer-guitarist-keyboardist Ross M. Levy.

The concert will be preceded by a havdallah service. Concert tickets are $50 VIP reserved seats (includes post-concert reception), $25 general admission, $15 students with ID. For tickets or more information on the festival, call 386-441-0351 or go online at jewishheritagefestival.com.

The Sunday festival will feature music by Recht, Levy, the Mike Eisenstadt Band, Sababa! and Beth Schafer & Ensemble, and a performance by the Orlando Israeli Dance Group. The festival also will feature kosher, Israeli and Jewish-style food, Israeli and Judaica artists and vendors, Jewish organization booths, and exhibits including a Holocaust memorial and Jewish hall of fame

Among the hourly speakers in the hall of fame will be journalist-writer David Sax, author of the book "Save the Deli: In Search of Perfect Pastrami, Crusty Rye and the Heart of Jewish Delicatessen."

Children's entertainment will include a rock climbing wall, matzoh baking, inflatables, a power jump, dunking booth, face painting, a petting zoo and camel rides. The festival's mistress of ceremonies will be radio personality Moira, who appears 3 to 7 p.m. weekdays on "The Philips Phile" on Orlando station 104.1 FM.

Hosted by the dove-voiced Moya Brennan of the band Clannad, the special traces the origins of Irish traditional folk music, and its revival and eventual mutations -- such as Clannad's groundbreaking, sung-in-Gaelic hit "Theme From Harry's Game," and Bill Whelan's "Riverdance."

According to "The Rolling Stone Encyclopedia of Rock & Roll," "virtually every note Hendrix ever allowed to be recorded" -- jam sessions, live concerts, studio outtakes, pre-fame stuff -- has appeared on some 100 albums since his death in 1970.

But the album "Valleys of Neptune" appears to warrant some excitement. The CD features 12 recently discovered, previously unreleased and previously "unheard" (!?) tracks totaling over 60 minutes. Ten of the tracks were recorded between February and May 1969, as the Jimi Hendrix Experience was working on the follow-up to "Electric Ladyland."

The set includes Hendrix' take on Cream's "Sunshine of Your Love," and it was mixed by Eddie Kramer, the engineer for all of Hendrix's albums during his time on this planet. "Valleys of Neptune" is available now.

My father inspired me to take on trumpet and guitar when I was around 12 years old. He showed me the blues, folk and some oldie goldies. Throughout junior high and high school my dad always pushed me to practice everyday and that led me to currently pursue music here at Stetson University.

What was the most unusual or memorable gig you've ever played?

Our band, Run Rhino, performed and opened for greats at the past Hippiefest in Daytona Beach. We performed outside the Peabody Auditorium around 6 or 7 p.m. before the historical musicians played inside.

We worked hard for this gig because we knew it was going to be very good exposure for us, and it was. We rocked a nearly hour-long set with tunes like "Sunshine of Your Love" by Cream, "All Along the Watchtower" (Hendrix version), "Free Bird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd and our debut of "Dazed and Confused" by Led Zeppelin and "Whipping Post" by the Allman Brothers.

Besides the music, we fit the part with our decked out hippie outfits and this all paid off when we made the front page of The News-Journal the next morning.

What was the best concert you ever attended?

Coldplay, Nashville, Tenn. This last summer I took a weeklong vacation to Chattanooga, Tenn., with my girlfriend, Felicia. We stayed in a KOA cabin and attended the Riverbend Festival in Chattanooga around the one day we went to Nashville to see Coldplay perform at the Summit Center.

We had excellent seats (50 feet from the stage) and a great balanced view of the whole stage. The perfect sound, lighting, video work and extra thrills in the show combined with Coldplay's outstanding performance and musicality made it one of the best concerts I've been to.

I believe Coldplay does an outstanding job of progressing pop-rock music forward with their unique rhythmic, melodic and harmonic ideas. This concert really moved me in such a way that I would love to be like them one day and give someone else the same great feeling that they gave me.

In the 1940s, pianist-composer Stan Kenton labeled his music "progressive jazz." The Kansas native strove to lead a concert orchestra as opposed to a dance band, and his style became known as "The Wall of Sound" (several decades before pop producer Phil Spector would adopt that tag for his work).

In 1950, Kenton created his Innovations in Modern Music Orchestra, whose 39 musicians included a phalanx of strings, a woodwind section and two French horns. Kenton's music continued to evolve until his death in 1979 at age 67.

Orlando Jazz pianist Don Scaletta has created the Jazz Project, a 20-piece orchestra, specifically to tackle Kenton's music.

Scaletta and the Jazz Project will pay tribute to Kenton with a concert at 2 p.m. March 7 at the Brannon Center, 105 S. Riverside Drive, New Smyrna Beach. Tickets are $17.50 advance, available at the center, and $20 day of the event. For more information, call 386-423-9760.

"Because of the music's degree of difficulty and interpretation, this undertaking proved to be a monumental task," Scaletta says on his MySpace page. Scaletta cites such challenges in Kenton's music as his "unmistakable harmonic sounds and his unique use of dissonances."

The band, which performs March 5 in New Smyrna Beach, gets more traditional on such songs as "Mighty Man," a slice of jazzy, urban blues; "Sold Down the River," an acoustic delta blues; and the ballad "Blues in the Rain," which echoes the soul of Brook Benton and Otis Redding.

"You hear people say 'Keep the blues alive,'¤" Wainwright said. "The quickest way to watch the blues die off is for everyone to keep playing the same thing over and over again the same way it's been done for 50 years."

Wainwright and the WildRoots will perform at 6 p.m. March 5 at the Coronado Civic Center, 223 Flagler Ave., New Smyrna Beach. Admission is $15; preferred seating $25. A cash bar and light snacks will be available. For more information, call 386-423-9760.

How big are the Moody Blues, that 1960s-spawned British rock band with a penchant for symphony-backed rock?

So big that the group, which is touring Florida in the coming week, landed a guest spot on "The Simpsons" in 1999.

So big that, in 2004, such bluegrass stars as Alison Krauss, Sam Bush and others recorded "Moody Bluegrass: A Nashville Tribute to the Moody Blues." The bluegrass contingent put a high lonesome, fancy pickin' treatment on such Moody classics as "Nights in White Satin," "I'm Just a Singer (In a Rock and Roll Band)," "Ride My See-Saw" and even "Legend of a Mind," the band's trippy 1968 paean to tune-in-turn-on-drop-out guru Timothy Leary.

These days the Moody Blues include founding drummer Graeme Edge (center), and two members who joined the band in 1966: singer-guitarist Justin Hayward (left) and singer-bassist John Lodge (right).

The Moody Blues will be in concert at 7:30 p.m. March 6 at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, 1340 A1A S., St. Augustine. Tickets are $26-$76, available at Ticketmaster. Information from the venue: 904-209-0367.

And the Moody Blues will be in concert at 8 p.m. March 8 at Hard Rock Live, 6050 Universal Blvd., Orlando. Tickets are $59-$89, available at Ticketmaster. Information from the venue: 407-351-5483.

The lion doesn't sleep tonight.

Jay Siegel (middle in photo) and the Tokens, known for their 1961 No. 1 hit "The Lion Sleeps Tonight," will perform March 5 in Ormond Beach.

The concert also will feature singers Jay Traynor (left) and Billy reid (right).

Siegel's tenor lead vocals and trademark falsetto have characterized the Tokens' music since the group first broke onto the pop charts in 1961 with their hit "Tonight I Fell in Love." The group's signature hit came later that year when "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" spent three weeks in the number-one slot.

When the song was used in the animated film "The Lion King" in 1994, the Tokens' recording re-emerged on the Billboard Hot 100 chart that year, giving the Tokens the honor of having the second-longest span on the charts in the rock era.

In the 1960s and '70s, Siegel and the Tokens also were the voices behind commercial jingles in television ads for Pan American Airlines, Ban deodorant and Benson & Hedges cigarettes.

Jay Traynor was the lead singer on Jay and the Americans' 1962 top-five hit, "She Cried." (He left the group before they scored such subsequent hits as "Come a Little Bit Closer" in 1964 and "This Magic Moment" in 1969.)

Richard Nader's Solid Gold Doo-Wop and Rock 'n' Roll, featuring Siegel and the Tokens, Traynor and Knights to Remember, will be in concert at 7:30 p.m. March 5 at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center, 399 N. U.S. 1, Ormond Beach. Tickets are $30-$50, available at the venue. Information: 386-676-3375.

Bikers will have their choice of suitable musical anthems as the 69th annual Bike Week roars to a party-hardy peak this weekend at venues around the Daytona Beach area.

"Need a Little Time Off for Bad Behavior" -- check.

"Highway to Hell" -- check.

"Take This Job and Shove It" -- check.

"Bark at the Moon" -- check.

"Rock and Roll All Nite" -- check.

"Kashmir" . . . er, OK, maybe not.

One genuine, certifiable country outlaw -- David Allan Coe -- and a host of rock tribute bands will be in concert this weekend, turning their amps up to 11 in order to be heard above the heavy metal thunder of tens of thousands of bikers.

Here's a look at some of the musical happenings.

In the 1970s, Coe not only was one of the pioneers of "outlaw" country music along with Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson. He also was a biker, and a member of the Outlaws Motorcycle Club.

In that era, Coe crafted such veritable biker anthems as "Cheap Thrills," "Need a Little Time Off for Bad Behavior" and the boogie-saturated "Son of the South." And Coe penned another likely biker anthem: "Take This Job and Shove It," which Johnny Paycheck turned into his signature tune.

Other Coe hits include "You Never Even Called Me By My Name" (written by Steve Goodman), "The Ride" and "Mona Lisa Lost Her Smile." He also wrote "Would You Lay With Me (in a Field of Stone)," a hit for Tanya Tucker.

Coe long ago left the Outlaws (the motorcycle club, not the style of music), but he remains a fixture at Bike Week, where he's performed for some 30 years.

Coe is scheduled to perform at 11 p.m. March 5-6 and 3 to 5 p.m. March 7 at the Iron Horse Saloon, 1068 N. U.S. 1, Ormond Beach. Information from the venue: 386-677-1550.

AC/DC tribute band Highway to Hell performs at 9 p.m. March 5-6 at the Boot Hill Saloon, 310 Main St., Daytona Beach. There's no cover.

If the band's vocalist, Martyn Jenkins, looks familiar to Bike Week fans, that's because the Welsh-born singer pulls double duty these days. He also fronts the Queen tribute band Absolute Queen, which performed on Main Street last weekend.

The Kiss tribute band Destroyer performs at 9 p.m. March 5 at Fresh on Maine, 115 Main St., Daytona Beach. (The stage is next door at the west end of Main Street, on the Halifax River at the base of the Main Street Bridge.)

The Rolling Stones tribute band The Stones perform at 9 p.m. March 6 at Fresh on Maine.

There's no cover for either show.

The Led Zeppelin tribute band Led-Hed performs at 10 p.m. March 5 at the Iron Gate Saloon, 415 Main St., Daytona Beach.

The Ozzy Osbourne tribute band Bark at the Moon performs at 10 p.m. March 6 at the Iron Gate.

There's no cover for either show.
