The last time we heard from Adu, the Nigerian-born singer better known as Sade (pronounced shah-DAY), she was cooing such semi-exotic, faintly island-flavored ballads as "Your Love Is King," "Smooth Operator" and "The Sweetest Taboo."
For her new single, "Soldier of Love," Sade enlists a subdued heavy metal guitar, a martial beat and her sweet yet now-steely voice as she chronicles her battles with Eros -- both her scars and her survival.
See the video at Amazon.com. The song is the title track of Sade's new album, due in stores Feb. 9.
