A woman attempts to fill in the blanks of her hazy memory in "Simone," a local independent film that premieres this weekend.
The psychological thriller was directed by Joops Fragale, 38, a New York native and Ormond-by-the-Sea resident who also works as a real estate agent and graphic designer. "Simone" was written by Frazer Lee, the British writer-director of the award-winning short horror films "On Edge" and "Red Lines," both starring Doug Bradley (Pinhead from the "Hellraiser" films).
"Simone" will be screened at 8 p.m. March 27 at Hull Pointe Business Park, 1230 N. U.S. 1, Suite 7, Ormond Beach. Tickets are $5 and are available in advance only by going online at 386films.com.
Along with a screening of the approximately 17-minute film, the premiere also will include about an hour of behind-the-scenes video and slide shows.
Fragale (at left in photo) says he discovered Lee's script online and contacted him about filming it.
According to a synopsis by Fragale, the film takes place "the morning after a night of hard partying, (when) Simone awakes unsure of the events that took place. The mystery deepens as her focus becomes clear, leading to a chilling discovery."
The film stars two Orlando actresses: Jennifer Ward (second from right) as Simone and Erin Nicole Cline (second from left) as Eve.
Michael Long (right), the film's producer, is a 42-year-old Port Orange resident and ex-police officer who founded Glideshot Industries, a manufacturer of camera dollies and track.
Long and Fragale formed 386 Films, a company with a production office and studio in Port Orange, after Long posted a notice on Craigslist looking for fellow filmmakers in the area.
Both Fragale and Long have worked on various short films and commercials. Fragale also has worked on TV pilots, and Long on instructional videos.
