<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial">WWE has yet another pay-per-view Sunday, one called Over the Limit.</font></div></div>
<div dir="ltr">
<div dir="ltr">
<div dir="ltr">
<div id="idOWAReplyText94652" dir="ltr">
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial"></font>&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial">These name changes are ridiculous, as I like the historical significance of various events.</font></div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial"></font>&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial">In fact, if I wasn't writing this and was just a casual fan, I probably wouldn't even be able to name the PPV without looking it up.</font></div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial"></font>&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial">Here are my predictions:</font></div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial"></font>&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial"><strong>John Cena vs. </strong></font><font face="Arial"><strong>Batista in an I Quit match for the WWE title:</strong> Batista is on his way out. Whether that's for good or not remains to be seen. But Cena will make him say, I quit." PICK: Cena.</font></div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial"></font>&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial"><strong>Jack Swagger vs. Big Show for the World title:</strong> It just doesn't seem like the right time to make Big Show a world champion. I'm not saying it won't happen again, I just don't see him beating Swagger for the belt. PICK: Swagger.</font></div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial"></font>&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial"><strong>Edge vs. Randy Orton:</strong> This one really could go either way. I see Orton as needing the win more than Edge. PICK: Orton.</font></div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial"></font>&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial"><strong>Rey Mysterio vs. C.M. Punk with Mysterio joining SES vs. Punk's hair:</strong> Yes, Punk could lose his hair. And that would make for some entertaining&nbsp;heel heat from fans. The flip side could have Mysterio joining the Straight Edge Society, which would also make for some entertaining segments. I think the first step is to have Mysterio join SES. Then have Punk lose his hair. You can't do this the other way around. PICK: Punk.</font></div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial"></font>&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial"><strong>Hart Dynasty vs. Miz &amp; Chris Jericho for the tag titles: </strong>Miz and Jericho don't need the belts. The Hart Dynasty have been together for awhile as opposed to the latest Jericho/Miz team. The fans, and the tag-team division, need faces as champs. PICK: Hart Dynasty.</font></div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial"></font>&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial"><strong>Drew McIntyre vs. Kofi Kingston for the IC title:</strong> Months ago, I would have cared more about this much. With McIntyre's big push to a strange demotion angle, this match doesn't have the "it" factor for me as much. I see the push resuming. PICK: McIntyre.</font></div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial"></font>&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial"><strong>Eve Torres vs. Maryse for the Divas title:</strong> WWE seems to like Eve. I don't think the timing is right for her to drop the strap. Keep it on the face, and keep the fans happy. PICK: Eve.</font></div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial"></font>&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial"><strong>Ted DiBiase Jr. vs. R-Truth:</strong> DiBiase's character has big momentum right now. As much as I like the R-Truth character, he shouldn't be the one to slow down that momentum. PICK: DiBiase Jr.<br /><br /><strong>LATEST HEADLINES AND MY REACTS</strong></font></div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial"><strong></strong></font>&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial"><strong>WWE</strong></font></div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial"></font>&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial">The Ultimate Warrior-Ted DiBiase rants. REACT: I'm not a big fan of these personal bashings. Who is to say DiBiase isn't a changed man? So, shame on the Warrior for bashing his "past sins." And calling him "Satan's Pig?" Now, that's personal. As for the DiBiase character, I think he was successful due to his portrayal of the character more than the angles/feuds he was involved in. I thought it was OK for DiBiase to defend himself. You can find that response here in Mike Aldren's story: </font><a href="http://mail.news-jrnl.com/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://www.thesun.co.uk/wrestling" target="_blank"><font face="Arial">thesun.co.uk/wrestling</font></a></div>
<div dir="ltr"><br /><font face="Arial">Michael Benoit urges voters not to send Linda McMahon to the U.S. Senate in November. REACT: I don't blame him, as he has his reasons. However, I think Linda McMahon is a shoe-in for the Senate seat.</font></div>
<div dir="ltr"><br /><font face="Arial">Carlito released, due to his "first violation of the WWE Wellness Program." REACT: What a sad, sad ending to such a talented character. Carlito was never properly used, but I think a ton of that had to do with his work ethic. Nevertheless, he was one of my favorite characters from the last 5-10 years.</font></div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial"></font>&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial">Abraham Washington top candiate for Raw's next general manager. REACT: I like this move. It's something different. Like past GMs, I don't see it lasting that long either.</font></div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial"></font>&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial">Quinton "Rampage" Jackson to guest host a future Raw. REACT: Surprising, as this will be promoting a UFC event.</font></div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial"></font>&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial">Pat Sajak in line to guest host a future Raw. REACT: Won't be as great as Bob Barker, but he'll be good. Will he bring Vanna White with him?</font></div>

<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial"><strong>WWE NXT:</strong> Darren Young was the correct choice to go bye-bye. It was silly, though, to have him lose in one of the matches and eliminate any suspense.</font></div>
<div dir="ltr"><strong><font face="Arial"></font></strong>&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial"><strong>WWE Superstars:</strong> The Vladimir Kozlov-Santino Marella pre-match segment went on entirely too long. And then to follow it up with a squash? <p><b><font face="Arial">Associated Press Writers</font></b></p>
<p><font face="Arial"></font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) -- Criticism aimed at Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal wasn't enough to keep him from securing the Democratic nomination for Christopher Dodd's U.S. Senate seat but was sufficient to help political unknown and ex-wrestling executive Linda McMahon get the GOP nod. </font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">Blumenthal and McMahon won their party nominations at conventions Friday for the post that the Democratic senator has held since 1981. Dodd is retiring. </font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">Blumenthal easily captured the nomination despite recent criticism for misstating his military record during Vietnam. </font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">"I have made mistakes. I regret them. And I have taken responsibility," Blumenthal said. "But this campaign must be about the people of Connecticut." </font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">McMahon, once an executive with World Wrestling Entertainment, has acknowledged providing information on Blumenthal's misstatements to the media. </font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">"I venture to say we're going to lay the smackdown on him come November," said McMahon, who has vowed to spend $50 million of her own money in the campaign. </font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">"I was an unknown coming into this race," she said. "I needed to have a good solid campaign out of the box because people need to know who I am and what I stand for." </font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">But before McMahon takes on Blumenthal in the fall, she has to get by former U.S. Rep. Rob Simmons, a Vietnam war veteran with two Bronze Stars. He received enough votes Friday to force an August primary. </font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">McMahon pulled away from Simmons when several dozen delegates at the Republican convention switched their votes before the first ballot became final. </font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">And Fairfield County money manger Peter Schiff, who lost many of his delegates to McMahon, may try to petition his way onto the primary ballot, supporters said. </font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">Despite the national attention that Blumenthal's misstatements have attracted, Democrats said they could not ignore his 26 years of political service -- six years as a state lawmaker and 20 as Connecticut's omnipresent attorney general -- to the state. </font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">Blumenthal sprinted past Mystic businessman Merrick Alpert in the delegate count, leading Alpert to pull out of the contest and Blumenthal winning on a voice vote. </font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">"I do think it's unfortunate he had some of the statements he made, but this convention is with him and everyone is human," said state Rep. Andrew Fleischmann, D-West Hartford. </font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">At the Republican convention, McMahon's husband, Vince, and Paul Levesque, McMahon's son-in-law, who is known to wrestling fans as Triple H, made an appearance. Many of McMahon's supporters painted Blumenthal in the role of bad guy, wearing stickers with Blumenthal's face and the word "Liar." </font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">"Now we know we have a really good shot of winning," said Joyce Koslowski of Seymour. "He had such a perfect record, and I think he thought he was unbeatable. And now we know he's not perfect, and we know we can get him." </font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">Blumenthal came under criticism when The New York Times reported Monday that he had repeatedly distorted his military service. The story included quotations and a video of Blumenthal saying at a 2008 event that he had served in Vietnam. </font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">Blumenthal said Tuesday that he meant to say he served "during" Vietnam instead of "in" Vietnam. He said the statements were "totally unintentional" errors that occurred a few times out of hundreds of public appearances. </font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">A longer version of the video posted by McMahon's campaign shows Blumenthal at the beginning of his speech correctly characterizing his service by saying that he "served in the military, during the Vietnam era." He was in the Marine reserves. </font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">"Already, we've seen them try to make this race about attacks on my character and service," Blumenthal said Friday. "I'm proud of my service. I'm proud of the work I've done for veterans." </font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">Damian Maine of New Britain, who served in the Navy in Europe during the Vietnam War, was forgiving of Blumenthal, who he said has done good things for the state. </font></p>
<p><font face="Arial">"Sometimes his story got a little mixed up, but I'm sure there's a lot of veterans who still support him," he said. </font></p>

<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial">His news of there being a new Raw GM

pretty big news. Who? I have no idea. Maybe Stone Cold Steve Austin or
The
Rock?</font></div>
<div dir="ltr">&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial">Buzz's in-ring promo was a little weak
 and dorky,
but the man is 80 and I will cut him some slack. I didn't think

care about the U.S. Space Program, but the Canadian space involvement
was
brought into the segment.</font></div>

<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial"><strong></strong></font>&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial">1. Bret Hart promo. REACT: It was
smart to lead
off with Bret Hart, seeing how the show was in Canada. Bret did have a
slip-up
when he used the phrase, "WWF headquarters." Oh well. Chris Jericho got
tremendous heat in this entertaining segment that kept my
attention.</font></div>
<div dir="ltr">&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial">2. The "commercials." REACT: OK, so
there weren't
actual commercials, but WWE had commercials of its own. I enjoyed most
of them.
The first one for wweshop.com involving The Great Khali in a small car
and
Hornswoggle in a big car was comical. The DiBiase Jr./R-Truth one not
only
pushed their pay-per-view match, but it was informative. Santino's
segment was
the weakest of the bunch. I didn't get the point. Goldust's date segment
 was
bizarre, which was appropriate.</font></div>
<div dir="ltr">&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial">3. Maryse vs. Eve. REACT: Smart to
incorporate
Maryse griping about Trish Stratus, another Canadian. The powder was a
little
lame, but quick and effective.</font></div>
<div dir="ltr">&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial">4. "Toronto needs a impact." REACT:
Not sure how
many of you caught this, but I'll bring it to attention.</font></div>
<div dir="ltr">&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial"><strong>The matches</strong></font></div>
<div dir="ltr"><strong></strong>&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial">1. Edge beats Christian. REACT: Smart
to lead off
with a match involving two Canadians, and one will say this is a match
we've
been waiting for. This match, which had some superb spear counters, got
good
time. Christian clapping in-match has always annoyed me, but he can get
away
with it as an energetic face.</font></div>
<div dir="ltr">&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial">2. The Undertaker beats Edge by
countout. REACT:
Awesome swerve on what was Randy Orton's Pick Your Poison selection
match for
Edge. While the match didn't last long, it accomplished its purpose --
which was
for Edge to be beaten down, by an Undertaker chokeslam.</font></div>
<div dir="ltr">&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial">3. Mark Henry vs. Batista ends in
no-contest.
REACT: No match, but the point was made with Batista laying Henry out
with a
2x4. It gives Batista momentum for his match Sunday against John
Cena.</font></div>
<div dir="ltr">&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial">4. Ted DiBiase&nbsp;Jr.&nbsp;beats Yoshi Tatsu.
REACT: The big news here was <strong>Virgil </strong>coming to the ring
with
DiBiase Jr. I admit, I&nbsp;marked out for this, as Virgil is one of my
all-time
favorite characters. Decent match&nbsp;here. I'm interested in how far
DiBiase
Jr. will go with his new image of buying anything he wants or beating it
 (the
competition).</font></div>
<div dir="ltr">&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial">5.<strong> Bret Hart</strong> beats
United States
Champion The Miz. REACT: Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler questioned Bret
wrestling
here, asking why he would want to but then reminding us of his ego. My
question
is, what happens to the belt now that he's the champion. Surely, he
won't be
defending it regularly. I liked the involvement of Vladimir Kozlov,
Wiliam
Regal, The Hart Dynasty, Chris Jericho and Natalya here. I wasn't
expecting a
five-star match, but I was entertained. The ending involving these
wrestlers was
particuarly strong. Kidd had a solid dropkick and clothelsline leading
into the
sharpshooter finisher. What was up with Bret Hart bashing Bret?</font></div>
<div dir="ltr">&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial">6. Maryse/Women's Champion Layla and
Michelle
McCool beat The Bella Twins/Divas Champion Eve. REACT: Fast pace, and
surprisingly strong work by the Bellas.</font></div>
<div dir="ltr">&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial">7. Randy Orton beats Jack Swagger by
disqualification. REACT: Orton sure does get RKO pops. I liked the
finish,
involving an RKO on Swagger and a spear by Edge. Strong PPV push.</font></div>
<div dir="ltr">&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial">8. Evan Bourne/Gail Kim beat Zack
Ryder/Alicia
Fox. REACT: Ryder looked 10-foot tall in the ring against Bourne. Fast,
refreshive pace.</font></div>
<div dir="ltr">&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial">9. WWE Champion John Cena beats
Sheamus by DQ.
REACT: I liked Cena's pre-match promo. He's one of the best. Solid
match.
Batista run-in pushes the PPV. It would have been smart to have Cena
say, "I
quit," as we all know Cena won't say it Sunday.</font></div>
<div dir="ltr">&nbsp;</div></div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial"><strong>Final thoughts: </strong>Aldrin
 did a
respectable job. He wasn't annoying and he was a different host than
most. Funny
how the older hosts (like Bob Barker) get the&nbsp;best grades. The show had
some strong matches, and Bret became a champion again. Strong PPV push,
and
nothing really negative.&nbsp;<strong>The grade: B+.</strong></font></div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial"><strong></strong></font>&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr"><font face="Arial"><strong>Next week's guest host:</strong>

<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div><strong>No. 1 Contender Match: </strong><font face="Arial"><strong>Motor City Matchine Guns beat Beer Money and Team 3D.</strong> REACT: Good choice for the opener. Nothing wrong with the MCMC getting the W. PICK: I'm 0-1.</font></div>

<div><strong>Global Title Match:&nbsp;Rob Terry beats Orlando Jordan.</strong> REACT: Terry deserves a monster push. Here's&nbsp;hoping this is the start of one. PICK: I'm 1-1.</div>

<div><strong>X-Division title: Douglas Williams beats Kazarian. </strong>REACT: Solid match, which isn't surprising. PICK: I'm 2-1.</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div><strong>Career vs. Knockouts Title: Madison Rayne beats Tara. </strong>REACT: Disappointing Tara didn't go out with a better match. With her crying, though, she's officially done. PICK: I'm 3-1.</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div><strong>Tag-team</strong> <strong>title: Scott Hall/Kevin Nash beat Ink Inc.</strong> REACT: Glad Hall/Nash won. The assist from the now-heel Bubba Dudley got no reaction, and rightly so. Who cares? I am, however, a fan of the Freebird Rule (where any two of the three title-holders can defend the strap). PICK: I'm 4-1.</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div><strong>Chelsea vs. Ring: Abyss beats Desmond Wolfe. </strong>REACT: Glad to see the stipulation of Abyss "getting" Chelsea for 30 days won out here. Cheesy story lines, ahead? Stay tuned. PICK: I'm 5-1.</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div><strong>Jeff Hardy beats Mr. Anderson. </strong>REACT: Anderson should have been rewarded with a win here for the new name of his fans. The name, obviously, caught on with the fans. He's all but officially&nbsp;a face. PICK: I'm 5-2.</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div><strong>Sting beats Jeff Jarrett. </strong>REACT: So, let me get this straight. Sting&nbsp;has a bad shoulder. He wins in 12 seconds. And Jarrett is stretchered out with a bad shoulder? PICK: I'm 6-2.</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div><font face="Arial"><strong>World Title: Rob Van Dam beats A.J. Styles. </strong>REACT: Nice to see a Jay Lethal push/angle with Ric Flair. I'm very curious as to what's next for RVD, and how long he keeps the strap. PICK: I'm 7-2.</font></div><font face="Arial">

<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div><font face="Arial"><strong>World Title: AJ Styles vs. Rob Van Dam: I</strong> can't see RVD dropping the strap. The fans like him much more than Styles. At least right now they do.</font></div><font face="Arial">
<div><br /><strong>Sting vs. Jeff Jarrett:</strong> Jarrett probably needs a big win here, but Sting will probably win this one. There's more to do with Sting in less time.</div>
<div><br /><strong>Mr. Anderson vs. Jeff Hardy:</strong> With Hardy's trial postponed again, I see this one as being a no-contest. Too risky to have Hardy win, and too surprising to have Anderson win&nbsp;here. Anderson is the absolute safe bet, but I wouldn't put my money on it.</div>
<div><br /><strong>Tag-team</strong> <strong>title: Ink Inc. vs. Scott Hall/Kevin Nash:</strong> Any team named Ink Inc. shouldn't win anything. Let&nbsp;the veterans keep the straps.</div>
<div><br /><strong>X-Division title: Douglas Williams vs. Kazarian:</strong> This one could go either way. My instincts say Williams.</div>
<div><br /><strong>Chelsea vs. Ring: Desmond vs. Abyss:</strong> The stipulation of Abyss "getting" Chelsea for 30 days is much more interesting than Desmond Wolfe getting a ring. Go Abyss.</div>
<div><br /><strong>Global Title Match:&nbsp;Orlando Jordan vs. Rob Terry:</strong> Terry is a beast. Jordan's gimmick pushes the censors and doesn't need a title.</div>
<div><br /><strong>Career vs. Knockouts Title: Tara vs. Madison Rayne:</strong> Everyone and their mother thinks Tara will lose here. I'm in agreement.</div></font>
