My opinion of Mysterio dwindles daily.
WWE.com announced Thursday night that Rey Mysterio, whose real name is Oscar Gutierrez, will be suspended for 30 days for a violation of the company's Wellness Program.
It's interesting WWE isn't making the suspension effective until Wednesday.
That hints that Mysterio will be dropping his Intercontinental Title on Tuesday during the Smackdown tapings (which will air Friday).
While I understand Mysterio is one of the most popular wrestlers in WWE, I don't feel that sorry for him.
Mysterio knows there is a Wellness Policy, and he knows WWE is testing its wrestlers.
Or did he think he was a big-enough name that WWE wouldn't suspend him for a positive test?
This upcoming suspension should really put every WWE wrestler on notice that WWE isn't messing around. Simply put, you test positive, you are suspended.
While I think it's the right call for WWE to have Mysterio drop his IC belt, I think WWE should start his suspension immediately, strip him of the IC title and not let him lose it in a match this Tuesday.
But God forbid if there is too much realism in Mysterio losing his IC title. WWE obviously wants as few fans possible to know the real reason Mysterio will be losing Tuesday.
Fans knowing the real reason for Mysterio losing would likely lead to lost merchandise and a dwindling fan base for Mysterio, and we just can't have that now, can we?
Heck, if WWE is going to allow Mysterio to wrestle several days after his positive test and drop his IC belt, why not take it one step further and punish him by having him stripped of his mask as well?
Oh, that's right.
Lost merchandise.
Dwindling fan base.

What was I thinking?
I'm a fan of Mysterio's in-ring ability. He's one of the best in the business today and one of the best in wrestling history.

It just saddens me he can't play by the rules.
LATEST HEADLINES AND MY REACTS
WWE survey asking fans if they would prefer a King of the Ring tournament event, main events as streetfights with no DQs or main events as TLC matches. REACT: I would vote TLC matches, just to see the top talent in those matches.
Brett DiBiase described as a "stud" by one WWE source but also considered "green." And rumors of plans for Mike DiBiase to be called up to form a "Billionaire Boys Society." REACT: I would agree on both counts on Brett. As for Mike, The Legacy shouldn't be broken up -- although it will be when Ted DiBiase turns face for his movie.
Lillian Garcia rumored to be guest hosting Raw and naming her successor as her final act. Also, the Bella Twins told The Sun Lillian "keeps all the other Divas in line. She is totally like mother hen." REACT: Great idea on the guest host, and Lillian will be missed for more than her announcing.
Jeff Hardy reportedly cites being burnt out as a key factor for his hiatus decision. REACT: Hardy's hiatus is well-deserved.
Randy Orton tells The Sun he is "a little upset" with Eugene, because Eugene was given a second chance and came in "a little heavy." REACT: If Orton indeed "pulled some strings" to get Eugene's job back, he has a right to be "a little upset."
On turning heel, Mickie James said she would if asked, and would be "the nastiest girl out there." Michelle McCool said "I don't want them to ever cheer for me again." REACT: I can see Mickie turning heel and being successful at it. As for McCool, wrestlers (and Divas) rarely ever stay face or heel their entire career. Heck, she started as a face.
Linda Bollea filed a motion against Hulk Hogan claiming she has not received the Harley Davidson motorcycle and $225,000 payment that was due Aug. 7. REACT: If true, Hulk should just have to pay a small late fee. Linda has gotten more than enough (Mercedes, Cadillac Escalade, Corvette, Rolls Royce -- and that's just the cars) from Hulk.
Kurt Angle allowed back in his suburban Pittsburgh home. REACT: It's true! It's true! It's damn true! Angle seems to have learned a lesson from this, as he's putting relationships on the back-burner for now. He also seems more believable compared to Rhaka Khan, who is likely done with TNA Wrestling.
TNA Wrestling going in a more sports-oriented direction, with pushes for newer guys along with the recent announcing changes. REACT: Change is good right now in wrestling.

Access Hollywood host Maria Menounos calls Randy Orton, "Horton," on her Twitter account. REACT: Give her a pass, because she said she is an '80s-wrestling fan.
Edge and Christian to likely team up. REACT: A no-brainer, as Edge will be returning as a face.
GLADD unhappy with Vince McMahon's saying the Cirque de Soliel performers' masks looked "pretty gay." REACT: When I heard that, I raised my eyebrows as well -- although McMahon meant nothing negative about the performers.
Maven encouraging Tennessee Titans player Matthew Mulligan to try out for WWE if the Titans cut him. REACT: At 6-foot-4/270 pounds, Mulligan would be off to a good start.
WWE's "talent life skills" initiative. REACT: Good to see WWE helping wrestlers with their post-wrestling careers, finances, health insurance and media training. All are essential now and in the future.
Tara mentioning WWE not thinking of women's tag-team belts. REACT: I remember WWF women's tag-team belts. Tara obviously didn't.
Rumor of Dusty Rhodes to host Raw. REACT: Would this hurt or help The Legacy?
