10 moments from Monday that will help shape the future of WWE Raw.
WHAT A RAW!
I've read a few reviews on this past Monday's Raw, and I'm not afraid to say those guys must have been watching a different show.
I thought the three-hour, 800th episode celebration was a classic!
Here are some key moments, in no particular order, that will help shape WWE's future.
1. No Raw General Manager. With Mike Adamle's shocking resignation, Raw has no GM. JBL has put in his request, but I can't see WWE going that direction with a current in-ring wrestler. I think WWE will somehow involve the McMahons, as it is hinting at a power feud with Shane and Stephanie. I also think Adamle will be sticking around, and maybe something with him and Stephanie will be revealed.
2. On that note, might we see Shane vs. Stephanie at WrestleMania XXV? Let's hope not, but it sure does seem like WWE has something planned with those two. It was very strange how Shane and Stephanie were talking about their dad as if he were deceased.
3. Chris Jericho reclaims the World Heavyweight Championship in a great cage match against Batista. This caught me totally off-guard. I didn't think Batista would lose the strap after just getting it. The loss hurts any momentum Batista had, but it gives back momentum to Jericho, who probably never should have lost the belt to begin with. It also makes more sense to have Jericho facing John Cena at Survivor Series and not Batista facing Cena -- which might be a WrestleMania XXV match.
4. The Great Khali turns face. This was a pleasant segment, but not unexpected. WWE has been slowly turning him good for weeks now. It looks like WWE will feed us Khali/Rey Mysterio vs. Kane/Mark Henry, which will be entertaining.
5. JBL didn't lose face in losing by countout to Undertaker, and CM Punk didn't lose face by having to settle for a DQ win against Randy Orton. We'll likely now get JBL vs. Shawn Michaels and Punk vs. Orton, again.
6. Speaking of Orton, WWE had him take out Ted DiBiase, who looked very strong in the eight-man battle royal. Orton's actions built him up, and hinted at a possible Orton face turn one day in the future. Maybe we'll see Orton vs. DiBiase five WrestleManias from now.
7. WWE dropped the ball in the women's match. While Mae Young's appearance and wrestling was actually entertaining, WWE missed a chance to have Brie Bella's twin show up as the mystery 16th wrestler in the 8-on-8 match. The women's division, as is usually the case, lacks direction.
8. Triple H and Michaels match against The Miz and John Morrison was superb. Look for Triple H to beat Vladimir Kozlov in his next feud. Speaking of Kozlov, you had to love yet another great impersonation from Charlie Haas. This time, it was Charlie "The Hit Man" Haas.
9. Next week on Raw, one would think Santino Marella would lose the Intercontinental Championship to William Regal, since the event is in Regal's homeland of the United Kingdom.
10. MVP can't even win on Raw. This losing streak is getting ridiculous. Is WWE holding off on MVP winning a match until the Royal Rumble?
