New Smyrna Beach will be full of hot air this weekend. The Second Annual New Smyrna Beach Seaside Balloon Fest will be 4 to 9 p.m. Jan. 8, 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Jan. 9 and 6 to 10 a.m. Jan. 10 at the New Smyrna Beach Municipal Airport, 124 Industrial Park Ave., New Smyrna Beach.
Dozens of balloonists from as far away as Ohio will be participating.
Activities include balloon rides, demonstrations and displays, live music, arts and crafts vendors, food vendors, children's rides and games. Admission is free.
Weather permitting, tethered balloon rides will be available today and Saturday. Tethered ride tickets are $10 and may be purchased at the event.
Balloon launch rides will be available early Saturday and Sunday morning, weather permitting. The approximately hour-long cross-country launch rides are $200 per person. Launch rides are limited and must be reserved. For information or reservations, call 386-424-2199.
A Balloon Glow, featuring numerous internally illuminated balloons soaring over the landscape, will be at 6 p.m. today and Saturday. A sunrise mass balloon launch will be held Saturday.
