Meet Author Helen Buchholtz at a free wine tasting and book signing from 6 to 8 Wednesday, Dec. 2 at Vino 100 Ormond Beach. The event will be held at the store in Nova Shoppes, 175 S. Nova Road, one block south of Granada Boulevard, Ormond Beach.
The daughter of an American mother and German father, she was torn from her idyllic life in New York when her father was deported to Nazi Germany in 1938. Forced to survive in a society that not only wouldn't accept her but also wanted to kill her, Buchholtz tells the harrowing and fascinating saga of daily life in Germany before and during World War II including the horrors of the total destruction of Hamburg by firebombing.
