Ponce de Leon and those old guys in the movie "Cocoon" (who discovered an extraterrestrial fountain of youth) have nothing on Sam Galway's new bride.
In the play "Amy's Wish" by Tom Sharkey, Sam and Amy Galway are elderly newlyweds who go on their honeymoon in Fountain Springs, Fla. All is fine until a nervous Amy, a member of the Gray Panthers, says a honeymoon prayer to St. Dymphna -- and the spring water at the honeymoon retreat transforms her into a stunning 19-year-old beauty.
The newlyweds' lives are further complicated by an amorous young suitor attracted to the new Amy, a nosy neighbor and a suspicious sheriff who thinks Ray has murdered his wife.
"Amy's Wish" will be staged at 8 p.m. Friday Dec. 11 and Dec. 12 and 2 p.m. Dec. 13 at the Daytona Playhouse, 100 Jessamine Blvd., Daytona Beach. Additional play dates: 8 p.m. Dec. 17 plus Dec. 18-19, and 2 p.m. Dec. 20.
Admission is $15 adults, $13 seniors age 55 and older, $10 ages 18 and younger. Information: 386-255-2431.
