I have to admit that this really was a pretty predictable year for Oscar nominations. That said, there were a few things that surprised me in the list.

SURPRISES

There was no way I expected "District 9" to find itself among the Best Picture nominees. However, I couldn't be more excited about the recognition given to this sci-fi film from producer Peter Jackson and writer-director Neill Blomkamp. That doesn't mean that the film still won't make my snubs list.

"The Blind Side" for best picture? Really? Nothing against Sandra Bullock who has been racking up awards lately, but the film as a whole was just so-so.

Speaking of Best Picture, really surprised at the lack of love for J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek."

It appears Maggie Gyllenhaal and I have something in common. We each had the exact same number of award nominations leading up to the Oscar announcement this week: zero. But with all the love being thrown Jeff Bridges' way for "Crazy Heart," it's nice to see his costar get some, too.

Like most people, I also asked the question "What the heck is 'The Secret of Kells'?" Well, it's a little-seen Irish film included in the Best Animated Feature category. But being in the same category with "Up" and "Coraline," I don't see it having much of a chance.

SNUBS

It's rare when someone who wins a Golden Globe doesn't even get a sniff from Oscar. Tell that to Robert Downey Jr. who got no respect from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for "Sherlock Holmes" after taking home a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture -- Comedy or Musical.

The Oscar hype for Rob Marshall's "Nine'' begun long before the film was ever released. But when the nominations came out, all it mustered was a Best Supporting Actress nod for Penelope Cruz.

I was in the majority of people who expected to see Clint Eastwood among the nominees for Best Director for "Invictus."

Maybe not as much a snub as a personal opinion, but I thought there were a couple people who put in performances that were very Oscar-worthy. I'm talking about Tobey Maguire in "Brothers," Sharlto Copley in "District 9," Julianne Moore in "A Single Man" and Sam Rockwell in "Moon."

I'm most upset about the snubbing of one of my favorite films of the year, "(500) Days of Summer." It was one of the more original movies I've seen in quite some time and Joseph Gordon-Levitt was absolutely incredible as the lovelorn Tom Hansen.

OK, I know you guys watched the "Lost" premiere, right? Was it everything you hoped it would be?

I know for me it answered a lot of questions: Yes, the new Locke is the Man in Black who is also the Smoke Monster. Yes, the bomb reset the timeline. Yes, Richard was a former slave, which basically means he did come over on the Black Rock.

But the interesting thing is how many new questions the premiere brought up. So here are my initial thoughts:

How the hell did the island wind up underwater? Did the bomb sink the thing?

Are we to believe now that there are two separate timelines happening? And will the two ever meet? Especially since the new timeline would seem to be starting back at the show's inception in 2004 and the continuing timeline is three years later.

Line of the night: "I'm sorry you had to see me this way."

Was Sayid reborn as Jacob?

Anyone else notice that when Charlie was reintroduced, Desmond disappeared?

The Locke/MIB says he wants to go home. Where exactly is that?

I was sitting on my couch watching TV this past week when I caught a very intriguing trailer. It was for the new film "Extraordinary Measures" starring Harrison Ford and Brendan Fraser.

Now when I say intriguing don't mistake that for good. Actually, I think the movie looks quite terrible. But in this mediocre trailer was placed a diamond in the rough, one of my favorite aspects of film: the yelled line.

Yes, that brilliant moment where a character's dialogue cannot be expressed in pure spoken form. It must be overacted and screamed at the top of one's lungs. And if it can be done in a very gruff voice, a la Harrison Ford, that makes it that much better.

In "Measures," the example can be heard when Fraser's character, having employed Ford to create a medicine that might save his sick children, urges him to work longer hours. Ford's response is a gritty and wonderful shout, "I ALREADY WORK AROUND THE CLOCK!"

And while this line brought sheer joy to my heart, it's not even in the top 20 yelled lines in film history.

Here's what else is happening this week:

A while back we told you that Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler was in
rehab for an addiction to painkillers. After this story, I'm not sure
how well that rehab is working.

Seems that Liv and Mia's daddy was doing some shopping at a California
Home Depot last weekend when the singer decided to bust out some a
cappella versions of his hits, namely "Dude Looks Like A Lady" and "I
Don't Want To Miss a Thing" over the store's intercom system.

According to TMZ: "Steven also swallowed a few mouthfuls of gas from a
helium machine, for blowing up balloons, and kept singing in a high
pitched Bee Gees style. He was very relaxed though, and happily signed
autographs for anyone who asked."

Yep, rehab is awesome.

Inflation not considered, James Cameron's "Avatar" is set to become the
highest grossing film of all time. This week it became the highest
grossing film worldwide with a whopping $1.85 billion. Here at home, the
film finds itself just $45 million short of Cameron's other cash cow,
"Titanic," which it should pass this week or next.

But still, with all its high praise, I just don't have much interest in
seeing it. What do you think, Fanboy readers? Is it worth my $10?
Throughout the last five seasons of ABC's mega-sensation "Lost," we've been introduced to a plethora of interesting characters and an even greater number of mind-blowing mysteries. As we find ourselves six days from the series' sixth and final season premiere (9 p.m. Tuesday on ABC, Channel 9), the truth is that there are still plenty of mysteries left to be resolved.

The "Lost" brain trust has been understandably tight-lipped in preparation for the penultimate season of the series, but they have let a few cats out of the bag. However, the one thing they have been repeatedly trying to prepare us for is that not all our burning questions will be answered.

"Obviously not every question's going to be answered, so obviously, some people are going to be upset that those particular questions don't get resolved," said co-producer Carlton Cuse at the Television Critics Association press tour earlier this month. "We felt if we tried to just answer questions, it would be very pedantic."

But there are a few loose ends that have to be tied up, right? With that in mind, let's take a look at what might be in store for our castaways. For you non-"Lost" fans, it might be best to take a couple of Advil before reading further.

First off, what happened when Jughead (the hydrogen bomb) went kaboom in the season five finale?

When we last left our Losties, they were trying to find a way to blow
up a hydrogen bomb in a pocket of electromagnetic energy in hopes of
resetting the timeline that brought them to the island in the first
place. This venture ended up with a hurt Juliet at the bottom of shaft
hitting said bomb with a rock until it went kablooey. End scene. See
you next season.

Since July's Comic-Con in San Diego, ABC has released clips that
feature various cast members in different roles. For example, Hurley as
the manager of Mr. Cluck's Chicken, the restaurant that was destroyed
by a meteor back in season three ("Tricia Tanaka is Dead"). With this
information, it's safe to say that Jughead might just have done the
job. My sources also tell me that next season might just start in an
airport.

What's all this about past Losties coming back to the island?

Over the past few months, you may have heard rumors that some of your
favorite past cast members might be coming back to the show. We can
confirm that these rumors are completely true, further backing up our
theory that the timeline has been restarted. Yes, that means favorites
like Charlie (Dominic Monaghan) as well as guys you almost forgot about
like Boone (Ian Somerhalder), will return. Aside from Maggie Grace, who
played Shannon, Sayid's doomed lover and Boone's sister, it is expected
that everyone who had a part in season one will make an appearance.
(Grace's missing Shannon is rumored to be written out in a very
interesting way.)

Wait, with all these people coming back, does that mean we might learn about Libby's back story?

It's a very positive maybe. Fans have been dying for some closure ever
since we found out that tail section survivor Cynthia Watros' Libby was
responsible for giving Desmond his boat as well as being a fellow
resident at Hurley's psychiatric ward. The story line was cut short by
real life when Watros was busted along with fellow cast member Michelle
Rodriguez for drunk driving. But at the TCA tour, it was announced that
both Watros and Harold Perrineau would be back for season six.
(Perrineau's Michael was responsible for Libby's exit via three bullets
to the chest.) With Perrineau back, we're also hoping to get some more
closure on the Walt situation. (Or as Michael might say,
"Waaaaaaaaalt!")

Are we ever going to find out what's up with Richard Alpert?

There was no way the writers were gonna let this one slip through the
cracks. How has Alpert not aged a day? He has looked exactly the same
whether we see him in present day or back to the time of John Locke's
birth in 1954. Well "Lost" fans, looks like you might get your answer
in episode nine titled "Ab Aeterno." In Latin, the title loosely
translates to "from the beginning of time." Take from that what you
will.

What's the best scoop you can give us?

Well how about the episode titles for most of the season? Beginning with
the season premiere, the two hour, "LA X." (The space is intentional.)
The season continues with: "What Kate Does," "The Substitute,"
"Lighthouse," "Sundown," "Dr. Linus," "Recon," the aforementioned "Ab
Aeterno," "The Package," "Happily Ever After," "Everybody Loves Hugo," we're title-less for the next three episodes
and then finally the two-hour season finale, which is scheduled to air
May 18.

He's been touring the country since 2005 and shows no signs of slowing down now. In support of his latest comedy special, "The Epitome of Hyperbole," Regan heads to Peabody Auditorium at 8 p.m. Friday.

We had a chance to catch up with the comic about his longevity, who he finds funny and his hope that we'll all be flying into Regan International in 2010.
How and when did you get into comedy?

Well I was in college. I was going to be an accountant. You can imagine
how exciting that was. My heart couldn't take it. I had to take the
foot off the gas and try something less exciting. So I switched my
major to communications and theater arts. My first class was a speech
class and I would try to make my speeches as funny as I could. I loved
it and thought, "Maybe I should try something like this."

How would you describe your comedy?

Machiavellian with Kierkegaardian undertones. (Laughs) Man, I'm just a
goof with a microphone acting goofy for an hour. It's hard to describe
but I guess you could say it's observational humor. I like to shine the
spotlight on things in a way that they haven't been looked at before.

You dropped your first CD, "Brian Regan Live" almost 13 years ago. To
this day it's on the iTunes Top Ten Comedy Albums list. How does that
happen?

I wish I knew. I wish I had that formula, you know? Use 20 percent of
this, 30 percent of that. One reason I think is that it's material I
did when I was coming up. I was working in these clubs that you had to
be a certain age to get into. So it was material that had people
reminiscing about when they were kids. I started to realize that
families were listening to it. When it was released, even the kids
liked it. So it was just something anybody could get into. It wasn't by
design. It was sort of a fluke.

You work relatively clean. Is it hard to stay that way?

It's not hard for me. I hate though to get typecast as this squeaky
clean guy though. I'm not handcuffed by it. It's just the medium I
choose to work with.

Who do you find funny?

Man, I love driving around listening to XM radio's comedy stations to
hear what people are doing. I love Bill Burr, guys like Nick DiPaolo,
Seinfeld, Steve Martin, Mitch Hedberg who sadly is no longer with us,
Maria Bamford. Anybody who is doing their own thing. Sometimes certain
guys get too similar to someone else and it's just less interesting.

Your latest comedy special, "The Epitome of Hyperbole," was released a little over a year ago. Do you ever stop touring?

When I first started, I thought you went on the road and you never come
home. I remember being on tour with this comedian and he's going, "Man,
I've been out forever, I can't wait to get home." I thought, man, he
must have been touring for five or six years. He says, "Man I've been
out for two weeks straight." I was like "What?" I thought you said
goodbye to your family and that was it. But you know I've been touring
nonstop for years but I take every other week off. I spend more time at
home than I do on the road.

How much inspiration or material do you draw from your family?

A little bit. I try not to go too much in that direction. When I'm
home, I don't want my family thinking I'm following them around with a
notebook going, "Come on kids, do something funny. Daddy needs another
5 minutes." But sometimes things happen that you just can't help but
use it. But I like to do a little bit of that but not so much that
someone without kids doesn't enjoy it. I want to touch on things that
we all have in common.

What do you hope people take from your show?

It's always fun to connect with people who are laughing. And not to be
selfish but while it's fun to laugh, it's also fun to cause laughter.
It makes you feel good.

What does the future hold for you?

Well I'd like to have an airport named after me. And more comedy.
Jane Adams - "Hung"
Rose Byrne - "Damages"
Jane Lynch - "Glee"
Janet McTeer - "Into the Storm"
Chloe Sevigny - "Big Love"
Who Will Win: Remember how I said that the Globes were unpredictable? I
meant every category but this one. Anyone who has seen Fox's "Glee"
knows there is no way that Jane Lynch's wise cracking Sue Sylvester
won't win.
Michael Emerson - "Lost"
Neil Patrick Harris - "How I Met Your Mother"
William Hurt - "Damages"
John Lithgow - "Dexter"
Jeremy Piven - "Entourage"
Who Will Win: As much I love seeing Michael Emerson win awards for his
amazing performances on "Lost," there was no one that came close to
John Lithgow as the uber-creep Trinity Killer on Showtime's "Dexter."
Lithgow helped make this past season the best yet for the serial killer
Drama.
Lea Michele - "Glee"
new rule around award shows is to never bet against "30 Rock." We won't.
Glenn Close - "Damages"
January Jones - "Mad Men"
Julianna Margulies - "The Good Wife"
Anna Paquin - "True Blood"
Kyra Sedgwick - "The Closer"
Who Will Win: As much as I would love to see the award go to Paquin, it
will most likely go to either Close or Sedgwick pending a backstage
coin flip.
Simon Baker- "The Mentalist"
Michael C. Hall - "Dexter"
Jon Hamm - "Mad Men"
Hugh Laurie - "House M.D."
Bill Paxton - "Big Love"
Who Will Win: I think it's going to be a big year for Hugh Laurie and
the cast of the Fox medical Drama, "House." Laurie should win several
awards just on his "House-in-a-looney-bin" performance from the season
premiere back in September.

Best Television Series - Drama
"Big Love"
"Dexter"
"House M.D."
"Mad Men"
"True Blood"
Who Will Win: Most people will tell you "Mad Men" continues its award
season domination. I'm going upset. No one had a better season that
that of HBO's "Big Love."

Best Animated Feature Film
"Coraline"
"The Fantastic Mr. Fox"
"Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs"
"The Princess and the Frog"
"Up"
Who Will Win: What a great year for this category. Truly any one of
these could win this award during any other year but this one goes to
Fanboy's best film of the year, "Up."

Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture
Mo'Nique - "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire"
Julianne Moore - "A Single Man"
Anna Kendrick - "Up in the Air"
Vera Farmiga - "Up in the Air"
Penelope Cruz - "Nine"
Who Will Win: It seems every critic is in love with Jason Reitman's "Up
In the Air" and the film will be sure to bring home it's share of
awards this season. But not this one. Give the nod to Penelope Cruz.

Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture
Matt Damon - "Invictus"
Stanley Tucci - "The Lovely Bones"
Christopher Plummer - "The Last Station"
Christoph Waltz - "Inglorious Basterds"
Woody Harrelson - "The Messenger"
Who Will Win: Waltz has been an Oscar shoe-in since he first stepped on
the screen as Col. Hans Landa in Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious
Basterds." No reason to doubt him here.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical
Sandra Bullock - "The Proposal"
Marion Cotillard - "Nine"
Julia Roberts - "Duplicity"
Meryl Streep - "It's Complicated"
Meryl Streep - "Julie and Julia"
Who Will Win: I'd say Meryl Streep has a pretty good chance of taking
this category but for which film? My guess is "Julie and Julia" where
Streep was Julia Child.

Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical
Matt Damon - "The Informant!"
Daniel Day Lewis - "Nine"
Robert Downey Jr. - "Sherlock Holmes"
Joseph Gordon-Levitt - "500 Days of Summer"
Michael Stuhlbarg - "A Serious Man"
Who Will Win: I believe this is the category where the Hollywood
Foreign Press pulls a Hollywood Foreign Press and awards the guy no one
has ever heard of. By that I mean Michael Stuhlbarg.

Best Performance By An Actress In a Motion Picture - Drama
Emily Blunt - "The Young Victoria"
Sandra Bullock - "The Blind Side"
Helen Mirren - "The Last Station"
Carey Mulligan - "An Education"
Gabourey Sadibe - "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire"
Who Will Win: For the last 5 months, I've heard nothing but hype for
Sadibe's performance in that film with the unnecessarily long name. (We
will just call it "Precious.") If she doesn't win now, all that hype
was for nothing.

Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama
Jeff Bridges - "Crazy Heart"
George Clooney - "Up in the Air"
Colin Firth - "A Single Man"
Morgan Freeman - "Invictus"
Tobey Maguire - "Brothers"
Who Will Win: Seriously, who doesn't love George Clooney? No one among the voters, that's for sure. He takes this award easily.

Best Director - Motion Picture
Kathryn Bigelow - "The Hurt Locker"
James Cameron - "Avatar"
Clint Eastwood - "Invictus"
Jason Reitman - "Up in the Air"
Quentin Tarantino - "Inglorious Basterds"
Who Will Win: Now it gets tricky. It could go to Reitman who did a
superb job with "Up In the Air." Maybe it goes to Cameron who basically
invented a new style of filmmaking for "Avatar." But my money is on
Tarantino who helmed "Basterds" in a way that no one else could have
even imagined.

Best Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical
"(500) Days of Summer"
"The Hangover"
"It's Complicated"
"Julie & Julia"
"Nine"
Who Will Win: Even though this category is labeled "comedy," it's rare
that a true blue, d%&* and fart joke comedy ever actually wins.
That changes this year with "The Hangover," which was quite possibly
the funniest film of the decade.

Best Motion Picture - Drama
"Avatar"
"The Hurt Locker"
"Inglorious Basterds"
"Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire"
"Up in the Air"
Who Will Win: There's a reason the Oscars went to a 10 film field this
year for Best Picture. There are so many wonderful films that came out
the past 12 months that I would love to see them saw the award into
pieces and hand some to each of them. That certainly will not happen,
so the others can just sit back and watch the cast and crew of "The
Hurt Locker" hoist the trophy.
Or perhaps you know him from his Twitter updates? Or how about his hand in developing Yowza!!, the cell phone application?

The actor is such the ultimate multitasker that is was a miracle he had time to stop by Fanboy for a chat.
You've been on NBC's "Heroes" since the beginning. Your character Matt
Parkman, has come a long way since then. How much fun has it been to
bring that journey to life?

It's pretty great. What I love about series television is that if
you're lucky enough to go on and on, and we've had four great years
looks like five, you know you have a journey. If you get a script and
you go "Aw man, I wish I was more a part of this," you know that
eventually they're going to get around to you especially with 12
characters. They've serviced my character in such an amazing way. Just
when I was starting to hear from people saying when is Matt's story
going to become more important to the show, boom season two. They
introduce my dad and all that crazy stuff. And then the end of last
year it was "Who do we turn to to take down Sylar?" and they turn to
me? It's crazy! I'm honestly just as much a fan of the show as an actor.

Where do we see Parkman in the future?

He's trusting people he didn't trust in the past. The fact that right
now he's working with HRG a guy at one point he had taped to a chair in
a hotel room. The alliances just keep changing on our show in a cool
way. I hope that what happens is he goes back to his police instincts
and sort of take control of these situations and go "OK, enough of this
(expletive). I'm not working for anyone more. Here's how we're doing
it." And put together a team and go after Samuel.

You hinted to a season five. Rumor has it that the show might be done after this season. You seem pretty convinced it's not.

Just going on my gut instinct and experience, it's a business and you
gotta completely remove the emotion from it. Look at what are the
numbers here? And our show does so well in so many ways. NBC right now
has bigger fish to fry. Our show is a pretty big fish but man, they
really are up against it. They've got to figure out their identity let
alone what they are keeping and not keeping on the air. With moving
Leno now, they got four holes to fill. A few other hours are being with
reality and news or whatever. I mean, that's still a lot. You don't
just make pilots and put them on the air. If you make ten pilots maybe
you pick up two. If they took us off the air, that would be another
hole. I actually love what they are doing with "Chuck." I think it's
great this year. But no one is watching the network in general. But
that's not an excuse. Our ratings have gone down and we need to find
our way again. Having said that, I think the show is really good right
now. It's gonna take some mix-up though. Hopefully they (the Network)
use the Olympics to re-launch things. They moved us from 8 to 9 p.m.
and didn't tell anyone. No one knew. My mom called me up and goes
"You're not on the air anymore?" I had to explain it to her. I just
don't understand. Who does that? But too, I know how this season wraps
up and it in no way could end the series. I think we have another
couple seasons but I could be wrong.

Speaking of last seasons, I heard you might be reprising your role as the captain of Oceanic 815 on "Lost." Any truth to that?

Yeah. I'm coming back just like pretty much every character. But it's
not a huge thing. I'm just happy to be a part of such an amazing show.

Is "Lost" a show you watch?

Oh sure! JJ (Abrams) is my buddy. And (producers) Damon (Lindelof)
and Carlton (Cuse), I know these guys very well. I was such a tiny part
of that show but I think it was an important role. It was just so cool.
These guys asked and I jumped.

Any Grunberg theories of the "Lost" universe?

(laughs) I do but I can't share it. I've sort of been privy to more than most people.

How did you get hooked up with JJ Abrams anyway?

I didn't have a choice. I was three. I've known the guy since we were
in sandboxes together in the first grade. He's my oldest and dearest
friend.

I was gonna say, he seems to have quite the crush on you when it comes to his projects.

Yeah. I have naked pictures of JJ Abrams. They disgust me.

Any chance we see you on "Fringe"?

You never know. Believe me, I watch that show too. I want to work with those actors more than anything. I love those guys.

I'm one of your 1.4 million Twitter followers, when did you know you were hooked?

I got hooked very early on. I'm a tech nerd. Everybody laughed at me.
Here's the thing, I was being told by a few people about it. Brea Grant
was one of them. Right before we left to go to London on a press tour,
we were literally at the airport. She said "You should just get on
Twitter. Try it." I checked out her Twitter stream and thought this is
pretty cool. Before we got on the plane, I did it. Problem is I did not
uncheck notifications. When I got to London, I had 25,000 followers and
25,000 emails notifying me. Now this is International. When you go to
London, you get charged for all those. I got a bill for whatever the
hell it was. I had to turn it off. It was just like ding, ding, ding,
ding. But it's been just a great thing. I love it.

As an iPhone owner, I'm well aware of Yowza!! Could you explain it to those who might not know what it is?

It's as simple as paper coupons on your cell phone. But it knows where
you and it brings the coupons to you. You just press Yowza!!, it finds
your location and brings up all the stores, restaurants and businesses
around you and what offers they have so you can save money right now.
And now we're in 15,000 locations. And now we're not just on the
iPhone. We're on the Blackberry, the Palm Pre and the Android.

Lastly, you're doing a lot for Haiti right now with Jimmy Jean-Louis (the Haitian) of "Heroes." What can people do to help?

Any time you think of what's going on over there, put yourself in the
shoes of the people that are there right now. Pretend you have the most
incredibly personal connection and do something, anything. Go through
your cabinets, your pantry, pull out cans and bottles. Whatever you can
send. There are places you can go. Go to Hollywood Unites For Haiti
(hufh.org) and you'll find out how you can donate. Whether its food,
clothing or money, they need it. They need everything. I can't even
imagine. I mean there are no construction standards there. I mean look
at what's going on. And Jimmy hasn't even gotten confirmation yet on
his relatives. He doesn't know what the hell is going on. To see a
great guy like that going through what he's going through, I will do
whatever it takes to help him and I think everybody needs to do the
same. And it's really time sensitive. Right now is when they need the
help. Not in a month when you're like "You know what? I think I'll do
something." No. Help now. Today.

After seven months and hardly any support, NBC is bumping O'Brien for Leno whose 10 p.m. show was trounced in the ratings by everything from "CSI" reruns to a "SpongeBob" special on Nickelodeon.

Remember a few years ago when Brett Favre was still a Packer?

Favre retired and then shortly after decided he still wanted to play and tried to strong-arm the Packers organization into letting him back on the team. They refused, basically telling the Hall of Fame bound quarterback that retiring was his decision and the organization had moved on. While the team caught some flak for the decision, it was the right thing to do.

And now NBC is allowing Leno to stiff arm his way back in to late night, after he made the decision to leave, without a single worry as to what it does to O'Brien's show or "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon," which airs after "The Tonight Show."

My grandmother likes to say that you live with the consequences of your actions. I guess that applies everywhere but Hollywood.

A while back we told you that Robert Zemeckis was planning to remake the Beatles classic film, "Yellow Submarine." Well that project is a go and we've now got the voice cast for our new Fab Four.

The new mix is an interesting bunch.

Adam Campbell, who has done practically nothing other than a stint on the short-lived "Harper's Island" and a role in "Epic Movie," will voice Ringo. Peter Serafinowicz (Pete of "Shaun of the Dead") will voice Paul McCartney. John Lennon will be taken on by Dean Lennox Kelly, who has been doing TV since 1988 (but in nothing I've ever heard of).

Lastly, George Harrison will be voiced by the best known of the bunch, Cary Elwes. Elwes past credits include "Saw," "Twister" and "The Princess Bride."

No timetable is set for the film's release.

"Get ready to scratch your heads, America."

That was what producer Damon Lindelof had to say about the final season of "Lost."

We've been hearing some interesting tidbits about the series and it's cast but the juiciest rumors came Tuesday from the Television Critics Association press tour.

Seems two cast members we never thought we'd see again are heading back to the island.

Harold Perrineau, who played Michael, is confirmed as well as Cynthia Watros, who portrayed Hurley's love interest/fellow psych ward inmate, Libby.

Yes, fans, Libby's backstory might finally be resolved.

One more "Lost" note...

If you're a fan of the show and want to catch up, the Port Orange Regional Library will begin re-airing the first nine episodes of season five at 10 a.m. Jan. 15. Episodes 10-17 will be shown starting at 10 a.m. Jan. 22.

When the new season begins, the library will host a weekly discussion group on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. starting Feb. 9.

The library is at 1005 City Center Circle, Port Orange. For more info call 386-322-5152.

Franks and beans. Butch and Sundance. Thelma and Louise. Peanut butter and jelly. Fred and Barney. Sarah Palin and Fox News. We all figured this was coming. Conan O'Brien has decided that if NBC moves "The Tonight Show" to 12:05 a.m., he will not be there to host it.

And could he have announced this any better? Here's his full statement.

People of Earth:

In the last few days, I've been getting a lot of sympathy calls, and
I want to start by making it clear that no one should waste a second
feeling sorry for me. For 17 years, I've been getting paid to do what I
love most and, in a world with real problems, I've been absurdly lucky.
That said, I've been suddenly put in a very public predicament and my
bosses are demanding an immediate decision.

Six years ago, I signed a contract with NBC to take over The Tonight Show in June of 2009. Like a lot of us, I grew up watching Johnny Carson
every night and the chance to one day sit in that chair has meant
everything to me. I worked long and hard to get that opportunity,
passed up far more lucrative offers, and since 2004 I have spent
literally hundreds of hours thinking of ways to extend the franchise
long into the future. It was my mistaken belief that, like my
predecessor, I would have the benefit of some time and, just as
important, some degree of ratings support from the prime-time schedule.
Building a lasting audience at 11:30 is impossible without both.

But sadly, we were never given that chance. After only seven months, with my Tonight Show
in its infancy, NBC has decided to react to their terrible difficulties
in prime-time by making a change in their long-established late night
schedule.

Last Thursday, NBC executives told me they intended to move the Tonight Show to 12:05 to accommodate the Jay Leno Show at 11:35. For 60 years the Tonight Show has aired immediately following the late local news. I sincerely believe that delaying the Tonight ShowTonight Show at 12:05 simply isn't the Tonight Show. Also, if I accept this move I will be knocking the Late Night show, which I inherited from David Letterman and passed on to Jimmy Fallon, out of its long-held time slot. That would hurt the other NBC franchise that I love, and it would be unfair to Jimmy.
into the next day to accommodate another comedy program will seriously
damage what I consider to be the greatest franchise in the history of
broadcasting. The

So it has come to this: I cannot express in words how much I enjoy
hosting this program and what an enormous personal disappointment it is
for me to consider losing it. My staff and I have worked unbelievably
hard and we are very proud of our contribution to the legacy of The Tonight Show.
But I cannot participate in what I honestly believe is its destruction.
Some people will make the argument that with DVRs and the Internet a
time slot doesn't matter. But with the Tonight Show, I believe nothing could matter more.

There has been speculation about my going to another network but, to
set the record straight, I currently have no other offer and honestly
have no idea what happens next. My hope is that NBC and I can resolve
this quickly so that my staff, crew, and I can do a show we can be
proud of, for a company that values our work.

Have a great day and, for the record, I am truly sorry about my hair; it's always been that way.

Yours,

Conan

Round one, O'Brien.
We are 25 days away from the most anticipated season premiere in recent memory, that of the sixth and final season of ABC's "Lost."

Usually around this time of year, the "Lost" braintrust is pretty tight-lipped. But this week, they unveiled a teaser photo featuring the cast in a very intriguing pose. Call it "The 'Lost' Supper."

Has the concept been done before? Sure. (See: "The Sopranos," "Battlestar Galactica," "South Park") But this time around, the photo seems to hold "DaVinci Code"-like clues to the drama's final season.

Here's what I've found so far:

First and most importantly is the placement of the Jesus figure. In this case, the role of savior will be played by John Locke. With last season's revelation that Locke is not actually our Locke anymore, are we to believe that the mysterious character is still "he who shall save us all," as Richard Alpert hinted?

Next let's look at some other intriguing poses. Sayid seems to taking the place of Judas in the photo. Will the former Iraqi soldier betray our Losties?

And how about Claire, Aaron's missing mom who seems to be giving Kate the evil eye. Could she want revenge on Kate for taking her son Aaron off the island?

And finally, there's Jack. For the purposes of this picture, our borderline alcoholic doctor will play St. Thomas the Doubter. Could any of these roles be more fitting than this one?

But aside from intriguing poses, there might be a few other clues thrown in as well. For instance, what do we make of this scene taking place in front of what appears to be an entrance to the Swan station, the Dharma hangout that was obliterated in season three?

Other curious notes:

What do we make of the skull and lilies placed at the feet of Sayid and Hurley? Could this mean doom?

The cast all seems to be wearing flat colors. What do we make of Sawyer's flannel of many colors?

If you want to investigate further, check out the full size image at go386.com/fanboy.

Here's what else is happening this week:

ESPN is planning on becoming the first network to launch a 3-D network later this summer. The sports network's parent company, Disney, announced this week that it will feature at least 85 different events in the first year starting June 11. It kicks off with the first 2010 World Cup match between South African and Mexico.

"ESPN's commitment to 3-D is a win for fans and our business partners," said ESPN and ABC Sports president George Bodenheimer. "ESPN 3D marries great content with new technology to enhance the fan's viewing experience and puts ESPN at the forefront of the next big advance for TV viewing."

For those of you who still watch broadcast news, a familiar voice left CBS as of Monday: Walter Cronkite.

You'd be correct to assume that Cronkite actually left (read: died) back in July, but his voice-over still kicked off "CBS Evening News" every night.

To replace him, they went with the most obvious choice: Morgan Freeman.

Vanity Fair's February cover story is on everybody's favorite adulterer, Tiger Woods.

The piece has some never-before-seen photos and theorizes that Woods is a sex addict. Way to step out on a limb, Vanity Fair.

Post-apocalyptic warriors, remakes, the return of an animated powerhouse and Kevin James talking to animals. Those are just some of the themes of the 2010 slate of films.

The new year is seemingly jam-packed with potential as we get movies from legendary directors like Martin Scorsese, award-winning actors like George Clooney and, of course, another Pixar classic. As we get 2010 rolling, let's take a look at some early Oscar favorites for 2011 ("Shutter Island" and "The American") and some potential wastes of your $8 (We're looking at you "Marmaduke'')
