'Lost's' Final Season: Will series' fans finally get to know all, see all?

Throughout the last five seasons of ABC's mega-sensation "Lost," we've been introduced to a plethora of interesting characters and an even greater number of mind-blowing mysteries. As we find ourselves six days from the series' sixth and final season premiere (9 p.m. Tuesday on ABC, Channel 9), the truth is that there are still plenty of mysteries left to be resolved.

The "Lost" brain trust has been understandably tight-lipped in preparation for the penultimate season of the series, but they have let a few cats out of the bag. However, the one thing they have been repeatedly trying to prepare us for is that not all our burning questions will be answered.

"Obviously not every question's going to be answered, so obviously, some people are going to be upset that those particular questions don't get resolved," said co-producer Carlton Cuse at the Television Critics Association press tour earlier this month. "We felt if we tried to just answer questions, it would be very pedantic."

But there are a few loose ends that have to be tied up, right? With that in mind, let's take a look at what might be in store for our castaways. For you non-"Lost" fans, it might be best to take a couple of Advil before reading further.

First off, what happened when Jughead (the hydrogen bomb) went kaboom in the season five finale?

When we last left our Losties, they were trying to find a way to blow up a hydrogen bomb in a pocket of electromagnetic energy in hopes of resetting the timeline that brought them to the island in the first place. This venture ended up with a hurt Juliet at the bottom of shaft hitting said bomb with a rock until it went kablooey. End scene. See you next season.

Since July's Comic-Con in San Diego, ABC has released clips that feature various cast members in different roles. For example, Hurley as the manager of Mr. Cluck's Chicken, the restaurant that was destroyed by a meteor back in season three ("Tricia Tanaka is Dead"). With this information, it's safe to say that Jughead might just have done the job. My sources also tell me that next season might just start in an airport.

What's all this about past Losties coming back to the island?

Over the past few months, you may have heard rumors that some of your favorite past cast members might be coming back to the show. We can confirm that these rumors are completely true, further backing up our theory that the timeline has been restarted. Yes, that means favorites like Charlie (Dominic Monaghan) as well as guys you almost forgot about like Boone (Ian Somerhalder), will return. Aside from Maggie Grace, who played Shannon, Sayid's doomed lover and Boone's sister, it is expected that everyone who had a part in season one will make an appearance. (Grace's missing Shannon is rumored to be written out in a very interesting way.)

Wait, with all these people coming back, does that mean we might learn about Libby's back story?

It's a very positive maybe. Fans have been dying for some closure ever since we found out that tail section survivor Cynthia Watros' Libby was responsible for giving Desmond his boat as well as being a fellow resident at Hurley's psychiatric ward. The story line was cut short by real life when Watros was busted along with fellow cast member Michelle Rodriguez for drunk driving. But at the TCA tour, it was announced that both Watros and Harold Perrineau would be back for season six. (Perrineau's Michael was responsible for Libby's exit via three bullets to the chest.) With Perrineau back, we're also hoping to get some more closure on the Walt situation. (Or as Michael might say, "Waaaaaaaaalt!")

Are we ever going to find out what's up with Richard Alpert?

There was no way the writers were gonna let this one slip through the cracks. How has Alpert not aged a day? He has looked exactly the same whether we see him in present day or back to the time of John Locke's birth in 1954. Well "Lost" fans, looks like you might get your answer in episode nine titled "Ab Aeterno." In Latin, the title loosely translates to "from the beginning of time." Take from that what you will.

What's the best scoop you can give us?

Well how about the episode titles for most of the season? Beginning with the season premiere, the two hour, "LA X." (The space is intentional.) The season continues with: "What Kate Does," "The Substitute," "Lighthouse," "Sundown," "Dr. Linus," "Recon," the aforementioned "Ab Aeterno," "The Package," "Happily Ever After," "Everybody Loves Hugo," we're title-less for the next three episodes and then finally the two-hour season finale, which is scheduled to air May 18.
