Anybody can pick the Oscars but it takes a real man (or newspaper) to try to prognosticate the very unpredictable Golden Globes.

Voted on by the Hollywood Foreign Press, the Golden Globes celebrates the year's achievements in both TV and film and have been a very good precursor to who wins the award's big brother, the Oscar, in March.

The Golden Globes, hosted by Brit comic and creator of "The Office," Ricky Gervais, airs tonight at 8 on NBC.
40288.jpgBest Performance by an Actress In a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series Or Motion Picture Made For Television
Jane Adams - "Hung"
Rose Byrne - "Damages"
Jane Lynch - "Glee"
Janet McTeer - "Into the Storm"
Chloe Sevigny - "Big Love"
Who Will Win: Remember how I said that the Globes were unpredictable? I meant every category but this one. Anyone who has seen Fox's "Glee" knows there is no way that Jane Lynch's wise cracking Sue Sylvester won't win.

johnlithgow.jpgBest Performance by an Actor In a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series Or Motion Picture Made For Television
Michael Emerson - "Lost"
Neil Patrick Harris - "How I Met Your Mother"
William Hurt - "Damages"
John Lithgow - "Dexter"
Jeremy Piven - "Entourage"
Who Will Win: As much I love seeing Michael Emerson win awards for his amazing performances on "Lost," there was no one that came close to John Lithgow as the uber-creep Trinity Killer on Showtime's "Dexter." Lithgow helped make this past season the best yet for the serial killer Drama.

tina_fey_mean_girls.jpgBest Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Comedy or Musical
Toni Collette - "United States of Tara"
Courteney Cox - "Cougar Town"
Edie Falco - "Nurse Jackie"
Tina Fey - "30 Rock"
Lea Michele - "Glee"
Who Will Win: To steal from "The Brady Bunch," "Tina! Tina! Tina!" The new rule around award shows is to never bet against "30 Rock." We won't.

alec-baldwin-30-rock-farmer-cheese.jpgBest Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Comedy or Musical
Alec Baldwin - "30 Rock"
Steve Carell - "The Office"
David Duchovny - "Californication"
Thomas Jane - "Hung"
Matthew Morrison - "Glee"
Who Will Win: Alec Baldwin. See above "30 Rock" rule.

30-rock.jpgBest Television Series - Comedy Or Musical
"30 Rock"
"Entourage"
"Glee"
"Modern Family"
"The Office"
Who Will Win: Ditto.

anna-paquin-tru-blood-sookie-stackhouse.jpgBest Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Drama
Glenn Close - "Damages"
January Jones - "Mad Men"
Julianna Margulies - "The Good Wife"
Anna Paquin - "True Blood"
Kyra Sedgwick - "The Closer"
Who Will Win: As much as I would love to see the award go to Paquin, it will most likely go to either Close or Sedgwick pending a backstage coin flip.

041110_hugh_laurie_11a.widec.jpgBest Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Drama
Simon Baker- "The Mentalist"
Michael C. Hall - "Dexter"
Jon Hamm - "Mad Men"
Hugh Laurie - "House M.D."
Bill Paxton - "Big Love"
Who Will Win: I think it's going to be a big year for Hugh Laurie and the cast of the Fox medical Drama, "House." Laurie should win several awards just on his "House-in-a-looney-bin" performance from the season premiere back in September.

biglove.jpgBest Television Series - Drama
"Big Love"
"Dexter"
"House M.D."
"Mad Men"
"True Blood"
Who Will Win: Most people will tell you "Mad Men" continues its award season domination. I'm going upset. No one had a better season that that of HBO's "Big Love."

up-movie-11.jpgBest Animated Feature Film
"Coraline"
"The Fantastic Mr. Fox"
"Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs"
"The Princess and the Frog"
"Up"
Who Will Win: What a great year for this category. Truly any one of these could win this award during any other year but this one goes to Fanboy's best film of the year, "Up."

peneslope_cruz.jpgBest Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture
Mo'Nique - "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire"
Julianne Moore - "A Single Man"
Anna Kendrick - "Up in the Air"
Vera Farmiga - "Up in the Air"
Penelope Cruz - "Nine"
Who Will Win: It seems every critic is in love with Jason Reitman's "Up In the Air" and the film will be sure to bring home it's share of awards this season. But not this one. Give the nod to Penelope Cruz.

190px-Christophwaltz.jpgBest Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture
Matt Damon - "Invictus"
Stanley Tucci - "The Lovely Bones"
Christopher Plummer - "The Last Station"
Christoph Waltz - "Inglorious Basterds"
Woody Harrelson - "The Messenger"
Who Will Win: Waltz has been an Oscar shoe-in since he first stepped on the screen as Col. Hans Landa in Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds." No reason to doubt him here.

Meryl-Streep_l.jpgBest Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical
Sandra Bullock - "The Proposal"
Marion Cotillard - "Nine"
Julia Roberts - "Duplicity"
Meryl Streep - "It's Complicated"
Meryl Streep - "Julie and Julia"
Who Will Win: I'd say Meryl Streep has a pretty good chance of taking this category but for which film? My guess is "Julie and Julia" where Streep was Julia Child.

04MichaelStuhlbarg.jpgBest Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical
Matt Damon - "The Informant!"
Daniel Day Lewis - "Nine"
Robert Downey Jr. - "Sherlock Holmes"
Joseph Gordon-Levitt - "500 Days of Summer"
Michael Stuhlbarg - "A Serious Man"
Who Will Win: I believe this is the category where the Hollywood Foreign Press pulls a Hollywood Foreign Press and awards the guy no one has ever heard of. By that I mean Michael Stuhlbarg.

Gacbourey-Sidibe-2.jpgBest Performance By An Actress In a Motion Picture - Drama
Emily Blunt - "The Young Victoria"
Sandra Bullock - "The Blind Side"
Helen Mirren - "The Last Station"
Carey Mulligan - "An Education"
Gabourey Sadibe - "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire"
Who Will Win: For the last 5 months, I've heard nothing but hype for Sadibe's performance in that film with the unnecessarily long name. (We will just call it "Precious.") If she doesn't win now, all that hype was for nothing.

george_clooney_01.jpgBest Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama
Jeff Bridges - "Crazy Heart"
George Clooney - "Up in the Air"
Colin Firth - "A Single Man"
Morgan Freeman - "Invictus"
Tobey Maguire - "Brothers"
Who Will Win: Seriously, who doesn't love George Clooney? No one among the voters, that's for sure. He takes this award easily.

163958__tarantino_l.jpgBest Director - Motion Picture
Kathryn Bigelow - "The Hurt Locker"
James Cameron - "Avatar"
Clint Eastwood - "Invictus"
Jason Reitman - "Up in the Air"
Quentin Tarantino - "Inglorious Basterds"
Who Will Win: Now it gets tricky. It could go to Reitman who did a superb job with "Up In the Air." Maybe it goes to Cameron who basically invented a new style of filmmaking for "Avatar." But my money is on Tarantino who helmed "Basterds" in a way that no one else could have even imagined.

the-hangover-01.jpgBest Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical
"(500) Days of Summer"
"The Hangover"
"It's Complicated"
"Julie & Julia"
"Nine"
Who Will Win: Even though this category is labeled "comedy," it's rare that a true blue, d%&* and fart joke comedy ever actually wins. That changes this year with "The Hangover," which was quite possibly the funniest film of the decade.

jeremy_renner.jpgBest Motion Picture - Drama
"Avatar"
"The Hurt Locker"
"Inglorious Basterds"
"Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire"
"Up in the Air"
Who Will Win: There's a reason the Oscars went to a 10 film field this year for Best Picture. There are so many wonderful films that came out the past 12 months that I would love to see them saw the award into pieces and hand some to each of them. That certainly will not happen, so the others can just sit back and watch the cast and crew of "The Hurt Locker" hoist the trophy.
