Let me start by disclosing that I am strong supporter of the Coen Brother's masterpiece, "No Country For Old Men." With that in mind, let me go on record as saying that if I had had an Oscar vote, it would have gone to "There Will Be Blood."

Inspired by Upton Sinclair's novel, "Oil!" the story of Daniel Plainview draws you in like few films have the power to do. If we can credit this to any single thing, it has to be the Oscar-winning performance of Daniel Day-Lewis. The way the actor slowly brings his character out of his greedy, bottom line-driven shell is truly amazing to watch.

But Day-Lewis' is not the only great performance in the film. Paul Dano (Little Miss Sunshine) is powerful as Eli Sunday a self-proclaimed healer and church leader. Watching Dano on screen, he clearly holds his own with the seasoned Day-Lewis which is no easy feat. Be particularly excited for the baptism scene.

Director Paul Thomas Anderson, who I had already grown to love thanks to films like "Boogie Nights" and "Magnolia," hits this film out of the park. The film's color, look and feel all mix together with an amazing script to cultivate what I officially believe was the best film of the year.
