OK, so
they can't
mention that it is called "ECW." And they reportedly can't air footage
of fans
chanting "ECW."
But that didn't stop them from officially bringing "ECW" back Thursday night.
But that didn't stop them from officially bringing "ECW" back Thursday night.
I had high expectations for
the ending of
Thursday's show, knowing ahead of time what was going to happen as I
read it
online.
However, I must say, most of
the rest of
the show was better than the final segment.
That did surprise me.
I think the final segment was
too "busy"
for my liking. I understand the significance of it, but there were
simply too
many wrestlers in the ring.
An invasion angle needs to be
more simple,
with less wrestlers, so as not to overwhelm the fans.
I was overwhelmed.
The only thing I really liked about the final segment was Dixie Carter saying she "invited them."
The rest of the show,
outside of the Beautiful People
segment, was mostly strong.
1. The Top 10 rankings.
REACT: I like how the show
started with this. It's different from anything WWE does.
2. Abyss, his side of
beef and Janice his board.
REACT: Creepingly appealing.
3. Knockout Street
Fight: Sarita beats Taylor Wilde.
REACT: An all-out brawl. I liked it.
4. I Quit Match: Brian
Kendrick beats Douglas
Williams. REACT: Nothing horrible here.
5. Kevin Nash and Jeff
Jarrett. REACT: This came
across much better on TV than I thought it would. That's a compliment to
these
two guys. Nash made a great point asking why Jarrett would side with
Hulk Hogan
and Eric Bischoff. I could do without the implied Nash-Miss Tessmacher
angle.
6. Three-Way Dance:
Samoa Joe beats Desmond Wolfe and
Rob Terry. REACT: Good action, and the right guy won here.
7. Best-of-5 Tag Team
Championship Series: Beer Money
Inc. beats The Motor City Machine Guns. REACT: Not sure if a best-of-5
works
nowadays, but this match was fast-paced. And it stole some of WWE's
ladder match
thunder.
8. The Pope D'Angelo
Dinero beats Matt Morgan. REACT:
Surprise winner with quick finish. The aftermath was more interesting
with Mr.
Anderson extending his hand to Pope.
9. The Women.
REACT: Velvet Sky, Lacey Von Erich,
Madison Rayne and Angelina Love talked a little too long here. The
mystery
motorcycle woman is different.
10. Jeff Hardy beats
Jay Lethal. REACT: Quick match,
and the right guy won, assuming Hardy's legal problems don't sideline
him.

Talk of Hulk Hogan not
wrestling again after his back surgery.
REACT: We might not see Hogan vs. Sting, but I think Hogan vs. Abyss
might
still happen.
WWE
CM Punk
(elbow) out for
another month. REACT: With him being in an angle, he isn't
missed.
All-Stars

might have Hogan, Nash, Ric Flair and Kurt Angle. REACT: Well, it
should. But
since they are with TNA Wrestling, I would doubt they all
appear.
Talk of Chris Jericho leaving

going on
tour with Fozzy, or trying to get a winning game show going.
John Morrison/Melina vs. Ted
DiBiase/Maryse
being discussed. REACT: I like it.
Hacksaw
Jim Duggan puts
over Morrison as the next big thing in wrestling. REACT: He's not far
off from
that.
Jerry Lawler reportedly

"don't

Alicia Webb (Ryan Shamrock),
