An official number, which doesn't include Randy Savage.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter recently said there are now 35 legends for the upcoming "Legends of Wrestlemania" video game. The report said Randy "Macho Man" Savage and Mick Foley are still not on the latest list.
Reading that report, I decided to touch base with THQ. Here's what THQ rep Jaime Jensen e-mailed back to me:
"Our announced roster at this point is as follows: Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, Bobby "The Brain" Heenan, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock (and) Jimmy Hart.
"All other talent names floating around at this juncture are considered speculation/Internet rumor.
"We expect more names to be announced over the coming months. The total talent list will be around 40 Legends and managers."
LATEST HEADLINES AND MY REACTS
Iran media condemns "The Wrestler" movie due to Ernest Miller's heel role as "The Ayatollah." REACT: This movie sure is getting tons of publicity for something that isn't even out nationwide yet. It is a must-see flick.
Bobby Lashley beats Joshua Franklin by TKO in 41 seconds of the first round. REACT: Lashley is a beast, but the quick TKO didn't show much of his skills. It'll be interesting to see how fast he progresses in his hope to moves to UFC in 3-4 fights and fight Brock Lesnar after that.
WWE sours on R-Truth. REACT: I've never found R-Truth to be someone who mastered basic wrestling skills, so his depush surprises me. His fan base is above-average.
TNA Wrestling to have new one-hour TV series of its top moments and matches. REACT: This is a good idea to broaden its appeal to fans.
Triple H up for the 2010 "Thor" role. REACT: We've heard rumors like this before. I'll believe it when I see it.
Tom Griffith ejected from WWE pay-per-view for making hand gesture to Batista. REACT: I've heard of worse things, but Griffith had to have done something else. At least I would think.
Rapper 50 Cent "brawled" with Floyd Mayweather over WrestleMania XIV payday. REACT: Rappers will be rappers.
Lance Cade accepts blame for WWE release. REACT: Good for Cade to "man up" and do that. It shows maturity.
Gene Snitsky reportedly covered the expenses of having his teeth permanently yellowed for his character. REACT: Wow. I'm speechless. Talk about work ethic. But now what's next for him?
Maria says she is dating a WWE cameraman. REACT: Did she pick him out of the crowd? Seriously, good for both of them.
Chris Cage of WWE developmental given a new ring name. REACT: Hear those Christian Cage footsteps WWE fans?
Beth Phoenix says she was a liturgical pianist. REACT: It takes talent to do something like that.
WWE Diva Cherry leaving wrestling for college. REACT: Good for her. In times like this, a second occupation is vital.
REVIEWING RAW
New superstars are emerging. Randy Orton's group is gaining numbers; Dolph Ziggler wins another match; Mike Knox is getting a push by laying out Rey Mysterio; and Sim Snuka has the last name and skills to do great in this business. I didn't like how Chris Jericho was complaining about having to wrestle Hacksaw Jim Duggan. And Kane is back in an angle (involving Kelly Kelly and The Miz right now) that will either be interesting or downright stupid.
NEXT WEEK'S RAW
The winners will compete in a Fatal Four-Way Elimination match the following week to see who faces John Cena for the strap.
Kane vs. Shawn Michaels: Does anyone else think JBL will cost Michaels the win? Kane seems back to being on a monster push again. But I'm going with Michaels, as it'd be interesting to see him the following week against his boss.
JBL vs. Rey Mysterio: As I said above, JBL will advance and join Michaels.
Chris Jericho vs. CM Punk: Have to have a face in here, so go with Punk.
Batista vs. Randy Orton: Same as above. Go with Batista, as Punk would stand no chance by himself.
