S.D. Jones dies
Conrad Efraim, whose professional wrestling name was "Special Delivery" Jones, died at 63 on Sunday in Antigua, West Indies. There was no official cause of death for Jones, best-known for his nine-second loss to King Kong Bundy at the first WrestleMania in 1985. REACT: I will remember Jones for more than just his match against Bundy. Jones was the ultimate enhancement legend, meaning losing to him was still a good win for the opponent even though Jones was never expected to win. My condolences to Jones' family and friends.
Volusia County's Kevin Nash tells Dr. Keith Lipinski Show he was 99 percent certain he would return to WWE and end his career there. Nash told Lipinski his wife asked him why he would want to be on the road that much when his current employer (TNA Wrestling) is so close to home. He also told Lipinski his wife said he was miserable during his five WrestleManias. Nash also told Tim Baines of the Edmonton Sun that his wife said he didn't know many of the WWE's wrestlers. Nash also told Baines he has lost 20 pounds and doesn't take pain medicine. REACT: It's natural for Nash to think and want to end his career in WWE, but like with other older wrestlers, stepping back from WWE is a natural progression. It's also good to see Nash in good shape, through hard work, and without painkillers.
f4online.com reported Playboy Playmate Sandra Taylor told a story on Howard Stern's show this week about Nash. She said Nash's wife inquired what Scores was on his credit card bill, he said it was a sports bar, she later found out it wasn't and he was banned from going there anymore. REACT: Scores is one of the most famous name strip clubs of all time. I can see how it could pass as a sports bar name.
Bret Hart tells Alex Marvez he is done with professional wrestling following his U.S. book tour. REACT: I think Bret is handling this perfectly. He has written what is being called one of the best wrestling books of all-time, and he is going out on his own terms. Without some cheesy angle with Vince McMahon and WWE. An angle with McMahon is something I wanted at one time, but not anymore. This is much better.
Jack Swagger's new theme song was used by Lance Cade. REACT: What if WWE brings back Cade sometime soon?
Brock Lesnar walks out of ESPN E:60 interview after drug tests are brought up. REACT: Brock has a right to answer whatever he wants, but his actions make one assume.
Possible Ryan "Ryback" Reeves "Terminator" gimmick. REACT: I was a mark of Reeves years ago, so whatever works for him, I hope he makes it to WWE.
The New Hart Foundation -- DH Smith, TJ Wilson and Natalya Neidhart reunited. REACT: Lots of head cases here, but it would be great if it worked.
Ring of Honor national TV deal? REACT: Needs a big network, or it's no big Honor (pun intended).
Cryme Tyme's Shad's MySpace post on John Morrison and The Miz. REACT: Pathetic. Looks like someone in WWE had that nuked quickly.
Katie Lea rants on HBK. REACT: Very strange. Future angle?
E-mail I received about The Heartbreak Express and protege Nick Fame causing an uproar Oct. 24 in The Republic of Panama for something they did to the Panama flag. REACT: Angle? I thought so, but then they sent out another e-mail with an apology. Wow!
Top six names on Raw. REACT: The faces have Batista, CM Punk and Shawn Michaels. The heels have Chris Jericho, Randy Orton and JBL. Since the faces are stronger (and even more if you throw in Stone Cold Steve Austin), you'd think John Cena might come back as a heel. However, as strongly as WWE is pushing Cena with these videos, he has to come back as a face.
WWE's recent talent evaluation to sign someone with zero prior wrestling experience is reportedly won by someone with wrestling experience. REACT: Ouch!
TMZ.com reports rap group M.O.P. sues WWE and John Cena over Cena's theme music. REACT: Will we see Chris Benoit deletion all over again with Cena's CDs? Stay tuned.
Sting says he thinks Vince McMahon may have just wanted him away from WCW and not to utilize him as a talent. REACT: I can see that fear, much like it happened to Goldberg.
Pery Saturn missing. REACT: This is a serious issue. If anyone knows his whereabouts, speak up.
The shows
Cyber Sunday: PWInsider.com reported the fan voting results were 100 percent legitimate. If true, that's very refreshing to hear.
Smackdown: MVP's losing streak up to 10? What's wrong with this picture? I wonder if Triple H-Undertaker will be a WrestleMania match. Festus-Maria is a story line that can go on for awhile. Same with The Great Khali and the Kiss Cam. I could care less about a Chavo Guerrero-Bam Neely feud. Same with The Brian Kendrick-Super Crazy.
Raw: I like the fire Mike Adamle or Randy Orton quits angle. It's funny WWE gave us the match it wanted the fans to vote in -- the world tag-team title match. I'm glad CM Punk and Kofi Kingston are the new champions, although I'm afraid it will hurt Punk's world-title chances. Wow! An Intercontinental title match also? The antics with Honky Tonk Man, Goldust and "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, with Charlie Haas as the GlamaHaas (Beth Phoenix), was funny. It looks like Kelly Kelly will get her re-push, since fans went with Mickie James on Sunday. Evan Bourne-Rey Mysterio was a classic, and they should have a decent feud with Mark Henry and Kane.
TNA Wrestling: So, Mick Foley is a "major shareholder" of the company. This looks like Vince McMahon-Steve Austin here with Foley-Kurt Angle. I wonder if Booker T will beat Christian Cage and send him on his way to WWE. Also, Scott Steiner is back. Happy times. The next pay-per-view has some interesting matchups -- Sting vs. A.J. Styles, Kevin Nash vs. Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle-Abyss for starters.
ECW: Chavo Guerrero-Matt Hardy leads me to think we'll have Chavo-Evan Bourne for the title before long. Speaking of Bourne, it's very impressive he received the second-most votes for Cyber Sunday of any wrestler ("Stone Cold" Steve Austin first). Let's hope his injury isn't too serious. I wonder what's next for Jack Swagger. The Miz and John Morrison were funny, as usual.
Next week's 3-hour Raw: Expect DX to beat John Morrison and The Miz. Also, expect Batista to retain against Chris Jericho.
WrestleMania XXV: Tickets go on sale Nov. 8 through Ticketmaster.
The Hogans
Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling. REACT: For the second straight week, the correct contestant was told to hit the road. This time it was Frank Stallone, who was the only one who refused to jump 30 feet down into the inflatable. Trischelle showed some heart by jumping, while Erin Murphy cried too much (I think she'll be leaving soon). Danny Bonadace doing a daily radio show will hurt his chances to win. Dennis Rodman being hurt might actually help him take it easy the next few weeks, without elimination. Butterbean showed massive strength during his match, which can't hurt his chances. And the rating going from 0.4 to 0.3 doesn't help matters.
Report of Nick Hogan moving to Los Angeles for school. REACT: To drive, or to pull a Brooke and say he wants to go to college before he changes his mind?
Hogan said on Bubba the Love Sponge that Vince McMahon tried to set up a Hogan vs. Mike Tyson match years ago and that Tyson missed out on a "hundred million dollar payday." REACT: Looks like Austin got that angle.
Randy Savage
Unfortunately, I have nothing new to report as it relates to Randy "Macho Man" Savage and WWE. Simply stated, no one is talking (again) about this issue. But, check back periodically for updates.
