What about those two scars on the face of actor Tommy Flanagan, one on each side?
The actor, according to the movie/TV website imdb.com, calls it his "Glasgow Grin," the result of being attacked by knife-wielding thugs in his native Scotland.
Those scars haven't hurt the 45-year-old's acting career. In fact, they may have helped the one-time stage actor land roles in the sword-heavy movies "Braveheart" and "Gladiator," and even in his current TV show about a California outlaw biker gang, the FX series "Sons of Anarchy."
It's that latter role, as Filip "Chibs" Telford," that's bringing Flanagan to Bike Week. He'll appear from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Iron Horse Saloon, 1068 N. U.S. 1, Ormond Beach. Information from the venue: 386-677-1550. Flanagan will be signing autographs and taking photos with guests.
Similar to Flanagan's life, his character Chibs was born in the ghettos of Glasgow. A "chib" is Scottish street slang for a blade.
Flanagan also has appeared in the films "All About the Benjamins," "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle," "Alien vs. Predator," "Sin City" and "When a Stranger Calls," and he played an arms dealer in the seventh season of the TV series "24."
