Looking around the interwebs this week, there's a ton of stories floating around. Some are pretty interesting. Some are just plain ridiculous. Let's take a look at some and get to the bottom of things.

JackBauer.jpgRumor: Jack Bauer will head to the big screen in a film adaptation of Fox's "24." Verdict: True.

A few years ago, series star Kiefer Sutherland said the cast and crew would do a feature film when the series ran its course. With the feeling that this season could be the show's last, talk of a film has heated up.

Now comes word that they have even hired a writer. His name is Billy Ray and he's written a slew of films like "Volcano," "Flightplan" and most recently "State of Play."

0000000657_20060919020141.jpgRumor: Universal Studios is planning a remake of "Jaws" in 3-D. Verdict: Maybe.

Apparently, Universal is seriously considering a remake of the classic 1975 film but with a new direction. The hope is to win over younger audiences with high-caliber special effects. (What was wrong with Bruce the mechanical shark?)

The part that makes us slightly nauseous is the rumor that the film will take a more comedic path. The role of Matt Hooper, previously played by Richard Dreyfuss, could go to Tracy Morgan.

Huh?

Rumor: The film "Paranormal Activity" is causing medical emergencies in Italy. Verdict: True.

As an Italian, it pains me to say that Italian youngsters are apparently wimps. A European news agency is reporting that emergency services have been taking dozens of calls regarding panic attacks in teenagers after seeing the film.

It's the most disturbed Italians have been since the last episode of "Jersey Shore" premiered in the old country.

bill+murray.jpgRumor: Bill Murray will play a ghost in "Ghostbusters 3" scheduled for a 2011 release date. Verdict: True.

In a recent interview, Murray confirmed what has been floating around for some time, that he will be among the undead in the next film.

"I said to them, 'I'll do it if you kill me off in the first reel,'" he told the Mail Online. "So now they are going to have me as a ghost in the film."

terminator_l.jpgRumor: Hollywood studios came up short in their effort to own the "Terminator" franchise after the rights were put up at auction. Verdict: True.

The rights to one of the most well-known action film franchises is now the property of Pacificor, a Santa Barbara-based hedge fund.

The group paid $29.5 million for the rights, beating out Sony and Lionsgate.

But the story isn't over yet as the two studios are now in talks with Pacificor to take joint control of the rights. If no agreement is made, the studios will be allowed to file objections to the sale. No truth to the rumor that the tagline of the next "Terminator" film will be "I'll be back ... to manage your investments."

christopher-nolan-inception.jpgRumor: Christopher Nolan is not only moving forward with a new Batman film, but Warner Bros. is also putting him in charge of the development of a new Superman film. Verdict: True.

The studio has gotten Nolan to act as a sort of foreman for the Superman project. He will have no hand in writing or directing the film, but he will make sure it stays on the right path.

Nolan and partner David Goyer are, however, actively working on a new Batman script. No word on any potential story ideas.

Rumor: Speaking of Warner Bros., the studio is planning a sequel to a film that was just released today. Verdict: True.

When "Valentine's Day" hits theaters in just a matter of hours, take solace in the fact that the studio is already planning a sequel. Yep, a sequel to a film that pretty much no one has seen yet.

The film will follow the same premise, an ensemble cast with numerous story lines centered around a major holiday.

It's currently titled "New Year's Eve." No kidding.
