If you're looking for intellectual stimulation, buy a ticket to "Crazy Heart." If you're looking to just be dumb for a while and laugh your head off, "Cop Out" is for you.
First, Bruce Willis being Bruce Willis is always awesome. He pokes fun at his action hero persona and even throws in a couple "Die Hard" jokes for the fans.
Second, Tracy Morgan being Tracy Morgan is always funny. Let's face it, the guy is straight up crazy town but if you find his shtick funny, then this film will have you roaring.
Third, Seann William Scott being Seann William Scott steals this film. As a very athletic burglar, Scott's scenes with Morgan and Willis are some of the best of the film.
But I will admit the film has its "flaws". It's slow in parts, the plot is far from original and some of its characters are cliches. But it doesn't matter. That's the whole point of the film. It's an homage to the past, to films like "Lethal Weapon" and "Beverly Hills Cop." They remind you of those films because they are supposed to. What director Smith has essentially done for this film is take some very funny actors, put them in the same room and told them to make us laugh.
In my mind, "Cop Out" is a huge success.
Speaking of Kevin Smith, the "Clerks" director has unveiled some details
about his next project, "Hit Somebody."
Smith told NHL.com that "Cop Out" star Seann William Scott, will play
Buddy, the title character in the film that gets its story line from a
Warren Zevon song.
The song, co-written with Mitch Albom, tells the tale of a hockey enforcer who strives to score just one goal in a hockey game.
Speaking of Bruce Willis, in an interview with MTV, the actor told fans that he believed Det. John McClane would be coming back for one more adventure.
"I think we're going to do a 'Die Hard 5' next year," Willis told MTV.com. And while he didn't give much in the way of details, he did offer one little nugget of info. "Well, it's got to go worldwide ... that would be my contribution."
John McClane takes on the Taliban? We'll see.
OK, parents, here's your chance to stay ahead of the next big phase that your kid is going to go through.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Disney is going to license "an extensive line of clothing and accessories" to coincide with the March 5 release of Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland."
The line will be available at ... wait for it ... Hot Topic.
Yep, Disney is going goth. And while I can't say I'm too surprised at this marketing campaign, it's a definite break from Disney's usual princess image gimmick.
But what kind of precedent does this set for the company? How long until the Seven Dwarfs can't get Snow White to whistle anymore because she's too busy listening to her Panic At the Disco albums?
Some of you know of my serious dislike for the rock band, Nickelback.
Well, it appears I am not alone.
The latest Facebook craze revolves around the Canadian group and a pickle. Yes, a pickle.
The band behind such hits as "Someday," "Photograph" and "Rock Star" (which I do believe are actually all the same song) currently has just over 1.42 million fans in its Facebook group.
Meanwhile, a group of Nickelback haters have created a rival group. Its name? "Can this pickle get more fans than Nickelback?"
And guess what, music lovers? There is hope. As of this writing, the pickle has more fans by about 50,000 votes.
Rock on, pickle.
