Yeah, I know, it's not even Thanksgiving yet. But if it ain't too early for every store I go into, then it ain't too early for me.
Did you know that this year "Frosty the Snowman" is 40 years old? Neither did I. But as it turns out it's true, and Fanboy is celebrating with a big ole DVD giveaway.
This Christmas, Classic Media is putting all your favorites together in one big box set. Along with "Frosty," "The Original Christmas Classics Limited Keepsake Edition," contains six more of the most beloved holiday TV specials of all time, including the Rankin/Bass classics "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town" and "The Little Drummer Boy." It even comes with a bonus music CD of some great holiday tunes.
So here's the deal Fanboy readers, I've got three of these sets to give away. And since these shows are some of my favorite holiday memories, I want to hear some of yours. I'm giving you guys until midnight Dec. 6 to e-mail me your favorite holiday memories.
And remember, this is Fanboy you're writing to. I don't want to hear about the time you all got together and sang carols by the fire. I want to hear about the time when drunk Uncle Earl burned down the Christmas tree or when Grandma actually got run over by a reindeer. My three favorite memories will each get a "Christmas Classics" box set.
To enter, e-mail me at tom.iacuzio@news-jrnl.com or write to Fanboy's Christmas Memories, The Daytona Beach News-Journal, 901 6th St., Daytona Beach, FL 32117.
Keeping the merriment going, you guys know about my vendetta against remakes. This week we actually got a win.
A while ago, we reported that Steven Spielberg and Will Smith were working on doing a reboot of the Korean film, "Old Boy." Well thanks go out to the film's original production studio, Mandate, who reportedly won't sell the rights to Dreamworks.
To get back at all of us, Will Smith is now setting his sights on a remake of "Flowers for Algernon."
If you're a fan of ABC's "Eastwick," sorry, but the show has been canceled. You can catch the last six episodes beginning this week.
Production will reportedly begin next month on a live action/CG (think "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?") "Yogi the Bear" film.
Anna Faris is set to play a documentary filmmaker working in Jellystone National Park. Perhaps more interesting are the possible voices for Yogi and his best pal, Boo-Boo: Dan Aykroyd and Justin Timberlake.
I love bringing you news of the failure of "The Jay Leno Show" and this week brings the juiciest tidbit yet.
In the 18-49 age range, (Leno's target market) the NBC prime-time talk show was beaten out by 10 other programs including "20/20," "Law & Order" and a "SpongeBob SquarePants" special on Nickelodeon.
Keep up the good work, Jay.
