Actor Jeff Goldblum has signed a deal to replace Chris Noth on the next season of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent."

Golblum will be seen in half of the series' episodes; discussions are ongoing to bring "Criminal Intent" veteran Vincent D'Ononfrio back for the other half.

"Chris has been a member of the 'Law & Order' family since the beginning, and Mike Logan is one of the most popular detectives in the history of television," said executive producer Dick Wolf said. "Jeff's presence will add a new dimension to an already successful show."

USA is airing seventh season episodes of "Criminal Intent" and last month ordered 16 new episodes.
