Participants will work with park staff and other volunteers to identify and remove invasive, exotic plants to help restore the park’s natural habitat. This service project is kid friendly and all ages are welcome to attend! Participants will get free entry to the park for the entire day. Participants are encouraged to wear sturdy shoes and dress appropriately. Sunscreen and insect repellent are advised. Water and refreshments as well as gloves and equipment will be provided. Ranger Richard will teach the basics of crabbing and demonstrate how to nab that crab. Participants are encouraged to bring their own crabbing equipment and supplies. Crabbing nets are available for sale in the ranger station for $3. This event is included in the regular park entrance fee of $5 per carload of two to eight people, $4 for one person in a car and $2 per pedestrian or bicyclist. Ranger Lauren will lead the hike on the beach as guests will learn about sea beans, how to find them and exciting ideas for what to do with them! The hike will last approximately one hour and will begin at the beachside pavilion. All ages are welcome and minors must be accompanied by an adult. Bug repellent, water and a camera are recommended. Boarding will begin at 4:45 p.m. and the boat will depart promptly at 5 p.m. Participants will take a relaxing cruise down the Intracoastal Waterway aboard the Hurricane Queen, sponsored by International Marine Ecological Research Solutions, Inc. (IMERS). This hour and a half cruise will feature complimentary refreshments while you enjoy the evening sunset and program by a park ranger. Bring a camera!
