Join Park Ranger Tony for a glimpse into the intricate world of sea turtles. Guests will learn about the sea turtles&apos; life cycle as well as the species of turtles, their habitat, behavior, the important role they play in Florida’s ecosystem and how to protect them. Part of the program will be conducted on the beach, so please be sure to bring water, sunscreen and bug protection if necessary. Children must be accompanied at all times by an adult.

Bring the family to the park for a day of introductory fishing! The program will cover casting, bait, rigs, lures, knot tying and will follow the “catch-and-release” approach. Equipment and bait is provided. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Bring sunscreen, bug repellent and water. Lunch will be provided, or you are welcome to bring your own if preferred. 

The cost of the program is $10 per family and proceeds benefit the Friends of Florida State Parks and Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area. Park entrance fees will also apply: $5.00 per carload of two to eight people, $4.00 for one person in a car and $2.00 per pedestrian or bicyclist.

Join a ranger for this guided ride on the Intracoastal Waterway and a tour of the saltmarsh, which will last approximately two hours. Learn about the importance of this dynamic ecosystem while relaxing peacefully in one of the park’s new kayaks! Participants of all levels of experience are welcome and will receive a brief safety demonstration and an introduction to basic kayaking techniques and gear requirements. Bring sunscreen and bug repellent and dress appropriately for the weather. 

Reservations are required. The cost of the tour is $25 per person and proceeds will benefit the Friends of Florida State Parks. There will be three double and four single kayaks available for the program, provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Ranger Richard will teach the basics of crabbing and demonstrate how to nab that crab! Participants are encouraged to bring their own crabbing equipment and supplies. Crabbing nets are available for sale at the ranger station for $4.
